I Guess Children Should Be Seen And Not Heard [Bush Derangement Syndrome]
Captain's Quarters ^ | October 05, 2007 | Ed Morrissey

That seems to be the operating philosophy of Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferers in Lancaster County, PA. When George Bush passed through for a visit on Wednesday, workers from a local day-care center led three dozen children in singing songs to greet the President as he arrived. That set off the BDS contingent, who made sure no one heard the children singing:

But for nearly three dozen youngsters from the U-Gro child care center, located just off the president's motorcade route on Stony Battery Road, it was all about waving hand-drawn flags, singing songs and holding banners welcoming to Lancaster one of the most powerful men in the world.

"What an opportunity this is for our children," center director Liz Burkhard said while herding children ages 4 to 6 into a compact, orderly row behind the yellow police tape lining Stony Battery at Church Street.

One group of protesters quickly descended on the happy cluster, however, chanting and singing their own songs to drown out the children's voices.

"Stop brainwashing children to support a president who doesn't deserve our support," one man yelled through a bullhorn. Others told the kids to "educate yourselves" and said "your parents are killing you" by supporting Bush and the war.

When children greet a President, they're not endorsing policy or campaigning for his vote. They sang because of the office, not the person. Whomever would scream at children through bullhorns to promote their own hatred and obsession really needs some psychiatric care. Can you imagine how these children felt when a group of adults descended on them, screaming and shouting through bullhorns?

Even the other protestors objected to their attack on the children. Some of them started shouting at the group to leave the children alone. However, even those excused the BDS by saying that the children represented hypocrisy because "There's that line of kids, all full of enthusiasm for their president, and he's vetoing health care for them." Putting aside the inaccuracy of that statement -- he vetoed an expansion of health insurance subsidies into the middle class, not health care -- somehow that excuses terrorizing children who just showed up to welcome the head of state.

When people tell you "it's for the children," it's mostly all about themselves. The Bush-haters in Lancaster made that very clear this week.

They don't care about the children. The kids are just political props to push forward a dishonest argument.

You goofed, it’s okay to admit it.

Now, ask the moderator to remove your offensive post or you risk becoming known as what you called these kids. (And don’t do that again, please.)

these children where with an adult care giver or teacher at the time and were not truant

And we can assume that they had signed permission slips from the parents, if they were away from the daycare facility. Liability insurance rules.

How do these protesters who follow the President and other Republicans around the country subsist? Where do they get air-fare, eat at fancy restaurants, and pay their other bills? Surely Soros doesn’t do it all. Who else is responsible for this despicable activity???

I regard him as a liberal troll at this point

I'm inclined to agree. The idea that all children should be locked in approved government "education" facilities during mandated hours is pure Hillary ... that is to say, Marxist.

"How dare children be seen in Wal-mart when I say they should be incarcerated?!?"

My children were home schooled and were never in the public school system. My children were also never truant. You may have seen them someplace during public school hours but they were not truant. The public does not own me or my children.

My children are all homeschooled, too. I’m never asked why they’re not in school. Often people assume we’re homeschoolers (probably because we’re discussing Greek parts of speech in the line at Wal-mart). Also, our local public school schedules are variable, and there are many private schools that set their own schedules. People just don’t assume “it’s a school day” or “school hours.”

Children should be in school getting an education so they can be independent once they become adults. They should NOT up on Capitol Hill demanding that politicians provide them with government handouts paid for by U.S. taxpayers. They should not be used as props by their parents who think that it “takes a village” to raise THEIR kids.

The children were not protesting. They were welcoming Bush. Perhaps you might consider reading the article. Cleaning up your language is an idea you might consider as well.

There should be a law against this.....Really!

So when I took my home schooled children to counter protest at a gun grabber rally several years ago to expose them to what liberal moonbats are really like, this should be against the law ? (It was a Rosie O'Donut rally)

Nothing like showing young people how deranged and vile liberals are by watching their mother and father being spit on, cursed at and physically threatened by loving compassionate liberals because I believe in the right to RKBA

Mommy and daddy are rich. These are spoiled brats who wouldn't have the first clue how to support themselves.I remember reading stories about the "party atmosphere" on the flights to paris to protest g-8 and Bush in Europe. Man I wish I had that kind of cash to spend flying to Europe to throw a tantrum. The rest are welfare bums and union thugs paid to do this. Virtually none are "normal people". Because "normal people" have to work.

The kids were there to WELCOME the President, NOT protest his being there. It was the goobers with BDS who saw the kids who started shouting at them.

How do these protesters who follow the President and other Republicans around the country subsist? FYI, most of these protestors were NOT from Lancaster. Alot of NJ plates, Mich, NY, and Union stickers (Philly).
