The organization was supposed to make him a better man. Instead, his parents say, it made him a dead one.
The ManKind Project offers trainings which support men in developing lives of integrity, accountability and connection to feeling."
From The ManKind Project Web site
"They had three naked men bring out two chickens that they hit with a hammer."
Michael Scinto in a letter to a Madison County sheriff's deputy.
Michael Scinto was literally scared to death.
On an isolated 11-acre compound down a winding, country dirt road 110 miles north of Houston, Scinto watched as the leader of the men's group instructed him and nearly 40 other strangers in the room. Put one foot on the carpet. Make sure to keep that foot on the carpet at all times. The leader then began grilling them about who makes them mad.

Sounds gay to me.
My opinion, this is a scam, a confidence scheme to get money from men who have the mental and emotional maturity of adolescents. And 12-step recovery groups are full of prospects. This exposure is a warning.
The article states that there are many prominent men in the Houston who are members of this secret society — and by their silence, they refuse to admit it. I don’t know if they are afraid or ashamed! But it speaks volumes as to their emotional immaturity.
Bopping naked men carrying chickens sounds reasonable.
I don’t need any help being a man. Particularly from some guy who asks me to take my clothes off. Somebody’s BS meter needs attention.
Lots of opportunity for blackmail.
Yeah, sounds gay to me, too.
Heh. But BS meters are scientologistic toys.
Hammer and chicken? Sounds sado to me. I think choking the chicken would have more therapuetic value.
(I believe that is the first time that sentence has never been written)

There's an interesting name connected to this "ManKind Project" - but I'll let Freepers click the link and scroll to the bottom of the first page of the article.
Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle's name was also on the list. When contacted by the Press, he declined to comment.

Hey! This is a family forum.
I believe that you should refer to that as: Restricting the upper-respiratory airflow of the barnyard fowl.
It’s a cult. Do a search for this and the horror stories for families. If people want out, they get pursued.
Appears they unlawfully imprisoned this man as well.
If you read further into the article, the national spokesperson admits the naked rituals are real parts of this organization.

I wonder if Roonie Earle was recruited into the program from a previous or pre-existing membership in a "twelve step" program, like AA.
Your suspicions would appear to be correct - further into the article:
According to the 1998 protocol manual obtained by the Press, leaders are told the exact language they are to use when talking to initiates, right down to when they are supposed to pause in the middle of a sentence. When greeting a new member, the staff is told to "get in his face, hard and clear," and to "hold it for 15 to 30 seconds." Some training centers use buckets instead of toilets, which have "more therapeutic value in terms of dealing with shame." Activities include feelings exercises where the men are encouraged to growl and shove each other's shoulders. "Cock Talk" is when the men put on their "dancing clothes," meaning get naked, and pass around an erect phallus made of wood. Whoever holds the penis gets to share his sexual past or issues. ...
At one point, says Mary, her husband and the other men were blindfolded and marched into a large room, where they were told to take off their clothes. Drums were beating in the background, and when the men were told to remove their blindfolds, "he saw 50 or 60 naked men dancing on a stage in a circle," she says. "They call this 'The Dance,' and my husband said they started playing rock and roll music and some of the men were just dancing like they were obsessed." This moment, however, paled in comparison to how uncomfortable Mary's husband felt the following day. "They were all in the sweat lodge on Sunday," she says, "which he actually enjoyed. It was the first moment he had to relax in days after going through such a high-drama weekend where they pound you to reveal your deep, dark stuff. So, everyone was sitting Indian-style in a big circle in the lodge when the man leading the group said, 'If you wish, you may reach over and grab your brother's dick. If your brother doesn't want your hand there, he can remove it.' Well, my husband told me he just froze. And from that point on, he just wanted out."
The group has their propagandists on that news site commenting about a what a great experience it was for them and attacking the “bias” of the article. Of course, they don’t respond to the fact that they obtained much of the information from the manuals and the documents that this family was able to download from the site by getting in with the deceased mans password. These people are brainwashed.
That would work! Good thinking.
Probably so...this is history!
