It hasn't gotten much comment yet, but in his interview on Fox last night, Fred Thompson rather emphatically told Focus on the Family chief James Dobson to take a hike. Host Sean Hannity asked Thompson about Dobson, who has attacked Thompson and made it clear he would not support a Thompson candidacy. "Don't read too much into the Dobson thing," Thompson told Hannity, continuing:
A gentleman who has never met me, who has never talked to me, I've never talked to him on the phone. I did have one of his aides call me up and kind of apologize, the first time he attacked me and said I wasn't a Christian
I don't know the gentleman. I do know that I have a lot of people who are of strong faith and are involved in the same organizations that he is in, that I've met with, Jeri and I both have met with, and I like to think that we have some strong friendships and support there
Hannity then asked: "Would you want to have a conversation with Dr. Dobson? Do you think that might help?"
I have no idea. I don't particularly care to have a conversation with him. If he wants to call up and apologize again, that's ok with me. But I'm not going to dance to anybody's tune.
I agree. Does this Dobson guy think he speaks for all Christian Conservatives? No this one.
Im inclined to vote for Fred, but there is evidence that he doesnt place faith in God and fellowship with believers very high on his priority list.
Yep, the more I see Fred supporters kicking Dobson for his honest statements on what Christians look for, the more I worry about Fred not even once acknowledging Christians and clarifying the facts.
How dang hard is is to say, Dobson is wrong, I AM A CHRISTIAN, instead of doing a tap dance away for the issue.
This Christian is highly taking that into consideration.
you just got to love all those that sit so high in judgement. For one Mr Thompson did say and explain his faith. It is not up to Dobson to decide ...In my Christian faith...that is up to God. Dobson admitted that he verbally attacked Thompson. The words he used and the tone were far from Christian-like. Not just the judgement on whether or not Thompson was a Christian but his words also included a personal affront. Now why doesnt he just admit he was wrong and apologize? This Christian is taking that into consideration.
What a rude thing to say, we all know Thompson's fruits are from observing them.
You may not like Thompson's past being observed for some reason, but get used to it. His lack of church attendance is not exactly hard to figure out, some webs sites have offered large rewards for just one picture of him in a non-political manner. No takers so far...
Thompson's fruit of church attendance is non-fruitful, and griping someone out for pointing out this fact is just silly.
Really...
Again read a Bible.
and please learn to format...
Well hot dog, where is the URL please... I missed this one if it is indeed true.
May God bless you.
I do not think Dobson has ever spoken with Thompson so how can he publicly make an assumption about F.T’s faith?
Make no mistake about it, these candidates and influential political activist leaders who threaten to not support the Partys nominee are playing political extortion to gain policy concessions or angle for a key appointment. They know very well that if they succeed in pulling away even a moderate fraction of voters from the Republican presidential candidate (and down-ballot Republican candidates that benefit from straight ticket votes), they likely will had the Democrats the win, since recently the margin of victory in many elections is within a few percent.
A true Republican or conservative would not willingly hand power over to liberal Democrats, who are guaranteed to work against our values. Political suicide is not in our nature, nor condoned in our religious teachings, nor consistent with our Constitution. Leave the futile political statements to those not fortified with a higher purpose.
