The boy who is allergic to almost EVERY food

Tyler Savage: he is fed through a tube in his stomach

Tyler Savage: he is fed through a tube in his stomach

A boy of 12 suffers from so many allergies that he is able to eat only five foods.

Tyler Savage is violently ill every time he is given dishes containing dairy products or wheat, gluten, eggs, lactose and soya.

The sole foods he is allowed are chicken, carrots, grapes, potatoes and apples.

To help him survive, minerals and vitamins are pumped directly into his stomach through a tube.

Tyler started to fall ill at the age of six when even a morsel of food would leave him writhing in agony from sickness and diarrhoea.

His mother, Lynne Savage, 43, said: "We asked for help but kept being told that he was suffering from a stomach infection. As a result his weight dropped drastically.

"He ran out of energy really quickly and couldn't do the things other children were doing. He just seemed to be getting worse and worse.

"It's been a real struggle. We didn't know what to do."

Tyler - from Earls Colne in Essex - was seen by a paediatrician at Chelmsford's St John's Hospital and had his appendix removed in December 2005.

Although the operation was a success it failed to solve the problem and he was referred to Colchester General Hospital for further tests and treatment.

That shed no light on the mystery illness and in April last year Tyler was sent to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for checks on his stomach and bowels.

The tests led to a diagnosis of eosinophilic enteropathy, a rare and condition in which the intestines produce too many white blood cells.

These act as a miniature immune system and attack food passing through the gut to the stomach.

The condition saw Tyler's weight drop to barely three stone.

"He was becoming malnourished," said Mrs Savage, a married mother-of-three and housewife.

At first, Tyler was fitted with a nose tube to help get food direct to his stomach, bypassing the rogue blood cells in his gut.

Then, this May, he had a tube inserted into his stomach allowing him to be fed for up to ten hours through the night.

"Even though this will continue for the foreseeable future, it is a godsend," said Mrs Savage.

"Last year he was only at school for about ten days, but in the first two weeks of this new term he's only missed one day.

"We've got a long way to go but at least we're now getting some answers."

In the day, Tyler, whose father, David, 60, is an engineer, can eat the five foods he is not allergic to.

As libs do their darndest to simulate thinking, they can't help bringing up Terri even if they don't know yet how it is spelled. Knee jerkers call people they hate knee jerkers.

The cause of Mr. Benjamin’s woe stemmed from his conclusion that although U.S. tactical efforts against radical Islamist groups have to a large degree succeeded, the overall strategic outlook of the United States is becoming rapidly worse. He, therefore, recommended that the United States withdraw from Iraq.

Thank the pro-life, pro-gun heavens above — in which Terry Schiavo and Jerry Falwell are undoubtedly prancing on celestial beaches and chomping on Triscuits — that there were enough degenerates in the audience to chastise him, the deluded and unpatriotic bastard.

Lecturer’s views no match for knee-jerk antagonists

The story in Italy repeated...

................................

Italian courts are grappling with their own Terri Schiavo, a 34- year-old woman, Eluana Englaro, who has been in a coma for 15 years after an automotive accident. Her elderly father, Beppino, wants to turn off her feeding tube because she is living in an "inhuman and degrading condition".

The case has been working its way through the courts. A year ago, a court in Milan refused to authorise removal of nutrition and hydration. But earlier this month, Italy's highest appeals court ordered a retrial. The Cassation Court declared that a person's right to decide what medical treatment they receive should be respected even if doing so would cause their death.

Doctors say Eluana will never regain consciousness. Otherwise, however, she is healthy and has never required life-support systems. Her father asserts that she said plainly during her conscious life that she would not wish to live in a vegetative state. He has often compared her situation with Terri Schiavo's. ~ ANSA, Oct 16; International Herald Tribune, May 15

Another lib is at it, pretending to be smart by reading the old liberal screensaver reminding us that decent Americans would want innocents like Terri killed and that any who would hope to save her are bad.

I can only guess from the title in the link that Pat Murphy has changed his name.

One would think Values Voters also would be hopping mad that President Bush vetoed more funds for the S-CHIP program for children's health care, which surely falls under the hallowed mission of "public policy that values human life." But no, Values Voters either are so irreversibly Republican to the core they'll buy anything with a Bush label, or saving children from deathly illness isn't the same to them as saving a fetus from abortion.

This crowd brought us the Terri Schiavo debacle—the humiliation of Congress enacting a law to keep Terri hooked to a tube, which President Bush flamboyantly signed after an overnight flight from his ranch to Washington, for naught. Terri died.

New name, same hangups

Fred and Terri tar baby dailies...

This ends with the phrase poor Fred may have to eat.

Asked again for his position on Terri Schiavo, Fred Thompson opened up about the death of his daughter from an accidental drug overdose in ’02.

“Obviously I knew about the Schiavo case. I had to face a situation like that in my own personal life.” Neither federal nor local governments should play any role in making a family’s end-of-life decisions, he said.

“So making this into a political football is something I don’t welcome. And this will probably be the last time I ever address it

Fred and Terri tar baby dailies, this one served with a twist.

Here, a lie less seen portrays the real impetus behind wanting to save Terri as the desire for the government to interfer. We are to suppose the religious in lib eyes could care less about Terri, but are enamoured with big government interference.

Liar, liar, liar!!!

........................................

Obviously, this approach may put Thompson in the American mainstream, at least on this issue, but this is certainly not what the Republican Party’s far-right base wanted to hear.

Dick Polman explained that Christian conservatives will likely see this as a major insult.

Thompson’s stance is definitely not in tune with the Christian conservative agenda. Their attitude - as evidenced by the Terri Schiavo case, the 24/7 cable TV melodrama of 2005 - is that the federal government should intervene in the private lives of families, and ensure, in accordance with their views of morality, that the doomed patient remains attached to the feeding tube. […]

It’s probably bad enough, from their perspective, that Thompson is known to be an infrequent churchgoer, that he once lobbied for an abortion rights group, and that he bestirred few hearts at the weekend Values Voter Summit. And now, from Thompson at his news conference, comes this blasphemy.

Indeed, I imagine the Dobson crowd will hear Thompson talking about government staying out of family matters and question the candidate’s commitment to most of the far-right agenda, practically all of which is predicated on the notion of the government getting entirely involved in family matters.

Thompson remembers the Schiavo controversy, snubs far-right base

It is feckless indeed for one to presume decency as a trait of the killers. Thread by wagglebee.

Cooper, a 40 year-old mother of three, signed an informed consent form for the abortion but two days later watched a pro-life video that changed her mind about going through with it.

When she finally arrived at the hospital for the scheduled abortion, Cooper said she only wanted to have it if doctors determined the drugs she took for the infection had damaged her baby.

Instead, she was taken immediately into surgery and the abortion was done, killing the baby.

I guess I am puzzled. Fox news terms the act of slaughtering a little kid as an "abortion procedure". Can we call Islamic beheadings corrective surgery? Huh, huh?

"The show explores the abortion issue through the eyes of three women confronting what is undoubtedly the hardest decision they've ever made," Fox News says in a preview about the program.

It will feature Kayla, a 20-year-old pregnant student deciding whether to have an abortion; Jeanne, a 30-year-old mother of five who is struggling with drug addiction; and 26-year-old Brooke who has tried desperately to conceive.

Fox News also says the program "also shows an abortion procedure."

Fred and Terri, tar baby dailies...

The small infection grows to a head, more I-toldja-so's

................................

WASHINGTON - Two and a half years after Terri Schiavo became a celebrated cause among Republican leaders, the party's leading presidential candidates have expressed opposition to the way Congress intervened in the case, a sharp departure from past Republican strategy.

The break was highlighted this week when former US senator Fred Thompson joined three other leading Republican candidates in opposing Congress' effort in 2005 to allow the Schiavos to take their daughter's life support case to federal court. Thompson added an emotional element, saying he was part of a family decision about the fate of his daughter, Betsy Panici, who died at a Nashville hospital after being unconscious for six days following an apparent drug overdose.

The stand by the presidential candidates has proved disheartening to Schiavo's family, which fought to keep the comatose woman on life support. Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, said he believes Republican candidates don't understand his sister's case. In a telephone interview, he said he will write this week to each candidate.

"I want to personally talk with them about Terri's case," he said. "They need to be fully informed. There obviously exists a lot of confusion about my sister's situation."............................................

In odd coincidence, I have just returned as all know from a conference sponsored in part by the University of Louisville, where a great tribute was made to T'wit. This is not related in any way I can tell, and involves good old Living Wills. Perhaps one or more attended our lectures, centered around the works of Wendell Berry. Or, perhaps not. Anyway, I remind once more of the better alternative, the Will to Live...

And, I think it is completely coincidence. Our bunch wasn't much into humanism. LOL.

The new edition of "Planning for Uncertainty: Living Wills and Other Advance Directives for You and Your Family" (The Johns Hopkins University Press, $40 hardcover; $18.95 paperback). It was written by Doukas, who is the University of Louisville's William Ray Moore Endowed Chair of Family Medicine and Medical Humanism, and Dr. William Reichel, a Georgetown University affiliated scholar.

Doukas said adults need to be thinking about end-of-life issues, whether they're 21 or much older.

"You should document your values, you should document your preferences," Doukas said. "You should do this if you're an adult, period, because anybody can have an accident or a sudden illness."

Relatively young women, such as Terri Schiavo, Karen Ann Quinlan and Nancy Beth Cruzan, have become the subject of high-profile court battles after becoming incapacitated, he notes.

Just ask a leftie. He is sure to tell you the right to kill as in Mikey and O.J. is right there in the Constitution, shown clearly following the white-out. He is sure to set you straight twisted.

Please note: This is neither satire nor humor. The leftie actually passes it off as thought.

For instance: In July. Christians disrupted a Hindu priest as he led the U.S. Senate in prayer. Ms. Gray might argue that we are a Christian country, but I checked the U.S. Constitution. Sure enough, Article I states, "Congress shall make no laws respecting an establishment of religion …" The founding fathers placed no adjective in front of the word "religion" because they wished to promote religious tolerance.

Whatever happened to, "Love thy neighbor"? In 2005, conservative Christians led by then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Sen. Rick Santorum, then-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and President Bush, sought to use the powers of the federal government to deny Michael Schiavo his right to allow his severely brain-damaged wife, Terri, to die. The courts intervened, the machines were disconnected and Terri died. Doctors determined that her brain had deteriorated to half of its normal weight and she would never recover. How Christian was it to prolong this existence?

Conservative Christians continue to deny others the benefits of stem-cell research. They argue that fertilized eggs would be destroyed in such research, thus killing the lives within. Yet researchers would use only those eggs designated for disposal anyway. I find it curious that no Christian has offered to save a single egg by having it implanted in a paid surrogate, who would raise the fetus to term, and then adopt the baby; nor has legislation been introduced making the disposal of fertilized eggs a crime equivalent to murder.

Some Christians try to deny rights

Advice to the love-lorn. They left out a good tip. Try to avoid marrying a psychopath.

Another important thing to remember when getting married is to update your will and your beneficiary designations. Although most things automatically go to the spouse upon the other's death, your beneficiary designations on your 401(k) or estate-planning documents will remain in effect until you change them.

Armstrong also says it's a good time to update your will and to get a power of attorney and health care proxy as well. He cites the famous Terry Schiavo case, where the spouse and parents of a comatose woman endured a brutal court battle in 2005 over her medical fate. "You have to choose who is going to make decisions for you -- your spouse or your parents," he says. "No one wants to think it can happen to them, but it does happen, and it's not a bad idea to get the documents taken care of right away." 4. Create a Budget Together

Stating the obvious in a thread by wagglebee:

Overland Park, KS (LifeNews.com) -- Because a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Kansas has been charged by with more than 100 counts of violating state abortion and health laws, pro-life groups say Planned Parenthood centers nationwide need more scrutiny. Both the Christian Medical Association and Operation Rescue called for more oversight.

Dr. David Stevens, the head of the CMA, says the case raises larger questions about how government regulates abortion businesses.

"I want to personally talk with them about Terri's case," he said. "They need to be fully informed. There obviously exists a lot of confusion about my sister's situation."

I have explained the reality of Terri's death to a lot of people, including people who favor euthanasia. And once they understand the details, they realize how horrific it was.

I know that the culture of death was looking for a "test case" and decided on Terri, and I think they eventually realized that Mikey was not who they wanted for the face of the "death with dignity" crusade, but by then it was too late.

I believe with every fiber of my being that if America, as a society, is unwilling to protect the lives of the innocent, from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death, that we lack the moral authority to lead the Free World.
