French mime artist Marceau dies.

Marceau was the world's best known mime artist The French mime artist Marcel Marceau has died at the age of 84, the AFP news agency has reported. The performer was known around the world for his silent portrayal of a white-faced clown with battered hat.

I am NOT a fan of pantomime but was a fan of Marceau. A true artist and a French original.

I have always steered clear of anyone who is a fan of mime. I put them in the same box as Hare Krishnas at the airport (without the finger cymbals).

The problem is that most mimes are just GD AWFUL! Marceau was at least entertaining and original, at least when I was a child.

Seems to me that you don't see mimes performing as much as you did in the 1970s and 1980s. I guess Giuliani got them off the street.

I've seen him live a couple of times during the 1970's as teenager. He was an amazing performer that was definitely way above everyone else in terms of doing mime. Gawd, his passing makes me feel old.
