Researchers spread liberal mythology
Waterbury Republican-American ^ | September 21, 2007 | Editorial

To reassure themselves that liberals are smart, left-wing social scientists periodically conduct research that proves conservatives are Neanderthals. Their latest foray, by New York University researchers squandering $1.2 million in federal grants, concluded the usual stuff — conservatives are simpleminded, less adaptive to change, etc. — plus Ronald Reagan's brain worked like Adolf Hitler's and conservative drivers have difficulty finding their way home when faced with a detour. Their conclusions were based on research subjects' responses to reflexive tests, as if their ability to answer an either-or question correctly in a fraction of a second is predictive of their ability to think analytically.

Liberals, meanwhile, were found to be "relatively disorganized, indecisive and perhaps overly drawn to ambiguity" but "more responsive to informational complexity, ambiguity and novelty." In another context, liberals would condemn stereotypes as racist, sexist or homophobic. But when sweeping generalities reflect poorly on conservatism, well, then they must be true.

But if liberals sort facts better and are good at discarding failed ideas, explain the War on Poverty. Talk about quagmires. This one has lasted more than 40 years and consumed $11 trillion without coming close to its promise to eradicate poverty. Despite irrefutable evidence that their calcified positions are destructive if not deadly, why do liberals also cling to "progressive" policies that chain people to their government, restrict gun ownership, kill unborn children and destroy families?

These and other liberal positions are consistent with the socialist world view, and socialism has failed every time it's been tried: Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, The New Deal, The Great Society, universal health care, etc. Today, the new darling of socialism, Hugo Chavez, is shuttering schools in Venezuela that refuse to use government-approved textbooks.

The dangers of socialism were manifest when economist and political philosopher Friedrich Hayek published "The Road to Serfdom" in 1944. Socialism, he wrote, exchanges individual liberty for state-dictated "fairness," which always conflicts the unalienable rights of free people. Even tentative steps toward central planning, redistribution of wealth and economic control inevitably lead to totalitarianism. "There can be no doubt that the promise of greater freedom has become one of the most effective weapons of socialist propaganda. But it only would heighten the tragedy if it should prove that what was promised to us as the Road to Freedom was in fact the High Road to Servitude."

His words are truer today than ever, yet liberals seem intellectually incapable of seeing the truth. That says a lot more about how their brains function than any contrived laboratory experiment ever will.

Socialism is a religion...I would say a cult....in many ways not unlike Islam.

Exactly like a cult. Their leaders want to control other peoples lives.

It’s been my observation that Liberals generally overpay to obtain inferior quality Mexican marijuana infused with animal droppings.

["Liberals, meanwhile, were found to be "relatively disorganized, indecisive and perhaps overly drawn to ambiguity" but "more responsive to informational complexity, ambiguity and novelty."]

Kinda like children.

But then again, children's mistakes don't end up killing 200 million people. So there must be something else going on. Single-minded, delusional madness is most likely the case.

Simple just follow the money!

Entire industries were created that exist off the dole. How else will we be able to provide jobs to all those liberal studies graduates. Where would they go if all the funds would simply dissapear tomorrow?

Liberalism is a self fullfilling prophecy. Those that have bought into this state of mind are so deeply invested in it that even if they see the errors in their ways (don't hold your breath it takes self-criticism to do so which is not in the liberal lexicon!) cannot turn back thus are more and more likely to spout liberal dogma. Without statistical proof, I would wager that there is a perfectly positive correllary between those that depend on gov't funding for their employment and the degree of liberalism they truely practice.

Bet's anyone?

Communists and socialists design “research” to support communists and socialists with taxpayer money.

Funny the liberal I encountered last night jumped all over me just for announcing an upcoming CAIR event.
He had no facts or”reality” in which to substaniate his fantasy of conservatives being “Nazis” and CAIR et all
being innocents. The opposite of course is true, proving once again that facts and reality are just meaningless
words to leftists.

Hey what happened to my brain when I rejected the leftist
idiotology that I once agreed with ?

If there were just one thing that I could make liberals understand it would be the fact that absolutely nothing is free ever. Somebody pays and when it’s taxpayers it gets filtered through government hands and an enormous per-centage of it is wasted.

I recently renewed a friendship (mostly on line) with a former high school classmate. She graduated number one in our class, so she was no dummy. She went to college and got a degree and now 44 years later, after a career in social services, she is one of the dumbest people whom I have ever met.

What happened to her brain? Liberalism.

Just one example. A few years ago she sent me an online petion to sign demanding that George Bush lower gas prices immediately. Sad isn’t it?

When one sees and knows the truth, one’s mind is made up, therefore having a an ‘open mind’ is foolish.

Conservatives know the truth, so their minds are made up. While liberals aren’t sure about anything and their minds are fip-flopping mush ready to adhere to any cockamamie theory that fits with their idealistic hopes of the way things are or should be.

"But it only would heighten the tragedy if it should prove that what was promised to us as the Road to Freedom was in fact the High Road to Servitude."

Liberals and leftists all over the world have abandoned the word "freedom" since this was written in 1944. Now it's just pure envy, with the promise to destroy the productive after they have been looted of their possessions. Sometimes, the destruction is via "progressive" taxation, sometimes a bullet.

In either case, the high priests of this religion live very well on the 80% of the loot they skim off for themselves before letting the rest trickle down to their "stakeholders".

“These and other liberal positions are consistent with the socialist world view, and socialism has failed every time it’s been tried:”

I remember hearing Rush say in an answer to this kind of statement; “Socialism has not failed every time, as long as you are one of those at the top” and this is exactly where the demonrat leaders wanna be.

They could’nt care less about the poor masses unless they get to be in charge.

Not too long ago I read about a poll that asked people to rate the President on several factors, one of them was “managing the economy”. It is amazing to think that many people believe that it is one of the President’s functions to manage the economy. We have a very uniformed electorate today.
