October's NH debates canceled, Thompson didn't know

CONCORD, N.H. --ABC News is reminding Republican presidential hopefuls that the October debate in New Hampshire isn't happening -- no matter how much Fred Thompson wants to come.

Thompson's campaign said yesterday it was looking forward to the October 14th debate in Manchester. But ABC sent a note today to all the Republicans, reminding them the debate was canceled weeks ago.

Interesting that you would want to stop discussion of candidates during a primary season. I don’t doubt that some of the posts might be a bit harsh but once the candidate is named everyone will be on the same page. I guess you must not have voted before. Not everyone is going to be happy during primary season but get in step during the national election. Sorry you don’t understand democracy. Being that you have been here since 2000, I am assuming that you were part of the primary season when people were discussing George Bush and John McCain (quite a few heated discussions - I guess you blasted people during that time too)?? Were you functioning on FREEPERS during that time or do you just come over from time to time? Good day.

Also in addition Rudy could have taken the Reagan line and said this money isn’t buying Saudi Special favors by influecing me. And then procede to spend it for good. That money could have done a lot of good. but politically it would have been thrown in his face.

Kind of like when reagan said something to the effect that by the log cabin republicans giving him money doesn’t mean he agrees with the log cabin republicans but that they are signing up for what he believes.

Hmmm..I’m beginning to suspect some MOVEON turds on our turf. They have a strategy here to pin freeper against freeper. I’m becoming more and more suspicious of late with some posts! And I haven’t even endorsed a candidate.

Good golly, this is positively TAME compared to what this site was like during the 2000 primaries.

Do you think Fred would have returned the $10,000,000 check to the Saudi after 9/11?

Also this means Rudy does have a price. If I give him money I guess that means he'll do what I want if he doesn't return it.

Elections coming up in two weeks. I haven't endorsed any of them either, and it will be tough to choose between some of them. Some of them have been in local politics for 30 years, which raises the red flag. One goes so far as to note he has run for office ten times and lost ten times--he doesn't mention he lost 10-1 every time because nobody wants him in office, period.

The most important issue of our time by far is the global WOT. And I do not believe for one second that Fred would be more effective than Rudy at waging this war.

Why? Ruity has ZERO foreign policy experience. Saying he would be good on foreign policy because the city he was leading suffered a terrorist attack is like saying Ray Nagin is an expert meteorologist because his city was hit by a hurricane. It means nothing.

And I'm sure the Ay-rab barbarians will take seriously a man who likes wearing dresses. /sarc

This post is not true. There are several statements that are a lie and you know it. So what can one expect who supports Rudy? You’re just not a conservative. And you get a kick out of lying.

“”Giulani showed his leadership not just one or two days, but for months after the worst attack ever on US soil. He refused a $10,000,000 check because the giver said US policy was part of the reason we were attacked. How many people in Washington would have done the same?
In my mind, zero.””

That was a solid thing to do but not the breath taking action that you seem to think is was.

For any New York Mayor at that time to accept the money would have been breathtaking.

I don’t think that Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson or John McCain or Romney would have accepted it.

I think that even very few democrat mayors would have taken it.

Please point out the so-called “lies”.....and be as specific as possible.

I guess I’m only a conservative if I agree with you.

And I do not believe for one second that Fred would be more effective than Rudy at waging this war.

Well, given that Rudy pushed a corrupt crony for the most important anti-terror job in the country, I'd say it would be pretty hard for Fred to be worse in how he would conduct the war.

No, you are not a Conservative it you agree with Rudy.

The rest is irrelevant after that.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Guiliani has the mindset of a "first responder", whereas Thompson not only understands that we are in a "long war" with the Islamists, he's not afraid to say it either.

“”But he’d do a Reagan (I hope) and surround him with great advisors so that he will do the right thing on the military front.””

Reagan sent off for an army officer course in 1935, he enlisted in 1937 in what I believe was a combat arms unit and became an officer serving until 1945 (or 46).

None of this makes him a military expert, but it does indicate that it was a subject that interested him and it can be assumed that he maintained that interest during his 8 or 9 years as an army officer, mostly during WWII.

I didn’t mean to say Reagan doesn’t know the military, but Reagan as a whole surrounded himself with great advisors not only military advisors.

Presidents that think they know all the answers make the worst presidents. Can you imagine Kerry as Prez? he’s someone who thinks he knows everything and would probably make the wrong decision in almost every area.

Exactly right. Particularly since Giuliani takes a very flexible view of the Second Amendment.
