October's NH debates canceled, Thompson didn't know
CONCORD, N.H. --ABC News is reminding Republican presidential hopefuls that the October debate in New Hampshire isn't happening -- no matter how much Fred Thompson wants to come.
Thompson's campaign said yesterday it was looking forward to the October 14th debate in Manchester. But ABC sent a note today to all the Republicans, reminding them the debate was canceled weeks ago.

Hmmm..I’m beginning to suspect some MOVEON turds on our turf. They have a strategy here to pin freeper against freeper. I’m becoming more and more suspicious of late with some posts! And I haven’t even endorsed a candidate.
I see what I have seen on threads about the other candidates... either enthusiasm from the candidates supporters or just immature posts from other candidates' supporters as they troll thread after thread posting the same swill over and over again. (I will not accuse you of this Red in Blue PA).
Fred is in the race. That is what he has done. His stands on positions equal mine. I like him and will support him. I also support Duncan Hunter and I like Rudy Guiliani and actually cringe at some of the immature trash that passes for political debate that gets posted on his threads. It is as if we cannot disagree with a person's politics without becoming six years old screaming "so's your mother." (Again, I am not accusing you of this Red in Blue Pa)
Now, when looking for a president, I try to ignore the modern construct on who can or cannot run for President. I think that a former Senator, with positions similar to mine, with some government experience, is more than qualified to be president. (Seriously, if there were certain qualifications for president, don't you think the founding fathers would have listed them...).
So far from canonizing him (please refrain from such hyperbole in the future :>)), I believe from what I have read, heard, and seen that Fred Thompson would make a very good president. (I will go one step further and say that Duncan Hunter and Rudy Guiliani would too) He is not being canonized, but being supported as enthusiastically as Romney, Hunter, Paul, and until his supporters were forced to leave (stripping this forum of some of its more political astute commentators) Guiliani.
Anti-gun, pro-choice, pro-gay. That's Rudy.
Ping!

Agreed. There are way too many candidates involved.
I was talking generally when I said that...but if the shoe fits...
No flame, but I do find your tag interesting considering who you support.
Details, details...

Re: I do find your tag interesting considering who you support.
The most important issue of our time by far is the global WOT. And I do not believe for one second that Fred would be more effective than Rudy at waging this war.
Not even close.
ding ding ding we got a winner!
One liberal didn’t work out for you, so you switched to another. Good to know where you’re coming from.
Asking what has he done isn’t the right question. The same question is why many get promoted to posistions they can’t handle. For example, the best salesman doesn’t make a good sales manager. And the best computer tech doesn’t make the best CTO. They are different skillsets, but in corporate america we often promote those that do jobs very well into jobs they won’t do as well.
Asking what Fred did as a Senator (which isn’t a whole lot) isn’t the right question. We all know if he did a lot as a Senator we would be very disappointed with him. Senators don’t make great leaders. And senators that do a bunch of work to gt legislation passed typically make the worse leaders.
You need to ask what skills do you believe Fred has that will make him a great leader/President.
That would be giving them too much credit. Take a look at democraticunderground. They are going through the same turmoil for who they want. Everyone thinks their guy is the best for the party/nation. But most agree that any of their guys are better than the other party's nominees.
Do you think Fred would have returned the $10,000,000 check to the Saudi after 9/11?
I am not certain he would have.
When you say Rudy will be way more effective at waging the war. Are you referring to his leading the troops? Or his leading the nation? or both?
I can see Fred leading the nation more effecitvely, but not leading the troops as well. But he’d do a Reagan (I hope) and surround him with great advisors so that he will do the right thing on the military front.
Unless one can convince the nation that the war is needed then what one does with the military is moot.
Until he has the opportunity I guess we'll never know. I haven't seen anything in his character to suggest that he wouldn't have.
