Wow! They censored Sally Field! (Sally Field anti-war Emmy acceptance speech cut off)
L. A. Times ^ | September 16, 2007 | Tom O'Neil

"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any god -" Emmy winner Sally Field said before the Emmycast cut her off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Cut off were the words "g-d d--ned wars in the first place."

"This belongs to all the mothers of the world - may they be seen and valued," she added when she won best actress in a drama series for her work as matriarch Nora Walker on "Brothers & Sisters."

After doing the movie “Not Without my Daughter”, one would think that Sally Field knows better about why the entire War on Terror truly needs to be won by Western Civilization no matter how long it takes.

She would probably respond -- if she was coherent at that moment -- that it is the patriarchy inherent in Islam that created situations such as the true story that inspired the movie.

Thanks! I checked Barnes & Noble and it is available.

Why would you give B&N one penny of business? They go to great lengths to promote every libRat book there is while burying conservative writers...

Lindsay, that... poor child!

My plan... was to gently talk her into seeing the light using the time tested 12 step process...

Eh... Hardy! Har har har!

Hell, even I cannot say that... with a straight face any more!

fieldmarshaldj, you will not say that to Bender2 again... You will not think that about Bender2 again

Who cares about Sally Fields? She is just an old brittle-boned tart trying to stay relevant. Fox simply censored her commentary because she used a word that would be considered profane and blasphemous to certain viewers.

The comments at the source site were so vacuous and inane, they really defy description. All the talk about “brownshirts” and “fascism” from those who certainly have no idea about either.

Fascism would imply there was a government policy in place to silence Sally. This had nothing to do with constitutionally guaranteed rights to free speech. Sally has a right to say what she pleases but she has no right for it to be broadcast or endorsed by Fox. If the Bush Administration really subscribed to fascist theory these left-wing loons and Sally would either be beaten severely or would just disappear. I can only deduct this is not the case as I have not noticed a shortage of left-wing loons or Hollywad moonbats.

Let’s see...Prime Minister Thatcher had two kids, a son and a daughter. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, had two sons.

Thatcher and Gandhi had no problem involving their nations in wars...Remember Falklands? Gandhi ordered the attack on Pakistan in 1971.

Ms. Fields’ statement is indeed ridiculous...

Hollywood creates primarily train wrecks these days.

Someone needs to cast Sally Fields in a Joan of Arc remake. Only the script would have to be rewritten so that France loses to England, because apparently woman do not fight.

She jeopardized everything with her little unprofessional amateurish performance at the ceremony. Sally proved her talent unworthy of honor,

You must be kidding. Hollywood, like she said so many years ago, "really, really like[s her]," and that's why she's won two Oscars and two Emmys. She was already a TV icon from Gidget and The Flying Nun when she first started to be taken seriously in her role as Sybil. The only thing that would reverse her fortunes is if she announced support for the war rather than opposition.

and even fellow Hollywood leftists had to flinch at the embarrassing incoherence spewing from their chosen one.

Come on. What we see on the screen is the sausage that looks so appetizing -- we don't see what goes into it. The people running the show behind the scenes know the freak show some well-respected stars truly are. Until recently, there wasn't much reason to figure Owen Wilson was all that different than the rest of us. As flaky as Field seems, she's probably one of the more sane ones.

Think Elaine Stritch is going to be hurting for work after making a fool of herself tonight? Think again.

Did you hear Linds is going to be doing the 2nd sequel follow-up to Sally’s “Not Without My Daughter” and Terence & Philip’s “Not Without My Anus”... called, “Not Without My Penicillin.” Paris Hilton, of course, will be co-starring in this festive romp following the two young ladies through a night of West Hollywood partying.

I was thinking, y’know, back when she was a redhead, her collars and cuffs matched, but in that instance, it was the hair and skin in the equator that were of matching hues.

It’s remarkable watching that spectacle how tacky these folks were, from Katherine Heigl shouting “$hit !” at her mother when she won (I thought only the losers say that ?) clear up through Miss Sally... and giving Gore awards, WTF ?!? Miss Stritch was the only thing worth watching. The old Hollywood is, alas, very dead...

I hope you would don a full biohazard suit before you 12-step her, lest her bodily, ummm, emanations tarnish your shiny metal *whatever* - just keeping your own best interests at heart. :-)

wHERE have I been? I didn't know Sally had any political views - right or left. I just thought she was a quiet, non-political professional actress. Another disappointing revelation about someone in the entertainment industry.

why can't they just keep quiet about politics, religion, etc. and just perfect their craft and let us enjoy what they do? Now I will never watch her again with enjoyment. I feel so dumb, I never knew.

Guess all that flying in her show The Flying Nun made her a total airhead or something.

Without question, the most vicious people I’ve ever met in my life have all been women.

I’d be interested to know what others think — am I unusual or does it seem that way to most people?

another hoot is when she said that bit about if:

If Mothers Ran The World, There’d Be No More War.....lol

my wife jumped up and declared “not in this house you bitch, I’d be proud for my boys to serve”...she then went to mutter “what did Burt ever see in that skank”

besides this notion of women as kinder and gentler never sets well with me when I consider 40 million dead babies since 1973 all sucked out of the womb as the request of old kinder and gentler

my arse to be frank....a myth

more emotional and weaker physically and better looking and keener intuition but kinder and gentler...lol...calling Mary Winkler...Hi Mary....meet your new date Mr Simpson!

She says she should have just said “d@!m” and left out the G-word.

Perhaps, but she is getting tons more anti-war publicity this way than if she had been allowed to ramble on and on. So, wittingly or unwittingly, a smart move.

We'll never know if God would damn a war, but I'm pretty sure He/She doesn't like it very much.

"He/She"?? LOL

Sad how they go from funny to shrill when they’re out of the spotlight. They can’t stand not being paid attention to.

Very disappointing.

I never figured her for a great mind, but never figured her for a STUPID, evil, completelty clueless idiot.

One more to add to the ‘no watch list’. Pretty soon, I’m only going to be able to watch John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, James Woods and (maybe) Bruce Willis movies.

I am afraid you may be right, but we try to sweep it under the rug. I find it disturbing to only have one word, Mother, to describe a woman who has given birth. Not all women are nurturers and nurturing. Some are rather crule.
