60 Minutes aired an interview with former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan this evening. He inferred Nixon was vulgar and profane, Ford was a nice guy, Reagan wasn't that bright and was just an opportunist intested in his public image, and naturally Bill Clinton was the smartest of all that he'd served under. He went on to say how bright Hillary was and that Bush lied to him about the truth of our prosperity. Now folks, I'm considering the source and I knew where this propaganda piece was heading, but it was pathetic. Barf-a-rama.
If you want to get on 60 Minutes. You HAVE TO bash Republicans. There is no way around that.
Clinton's success was the dot-com bubble that burst in 1999. Between McCauliffe's WorldCom scam and the phonied-up prosperity of the dot-com's, they claimed projections of HUGE SURPLUSES, just before Ken Lay and Enron and dot-com's were discovered as over-sell.
Sounds like somebody’s been shown photos of himself hanging around Minnesota airport bathrooms.
Sorry kitty, He did that once and look what they did to Him.
I'm amazed God hasn't given up on this species as an experiment gone bad. Who knows, maybe He has.
Greenspudders is just another example of a self absorbed narcissist who has long outlived his usefulness.
Maybe that dirtbag reid was right and greenspan was a hack
I read Reagan’s diaries. Looked like a pretty bright, savvy man to me.
What pathetic weasel Greenspan is. With his money and at age what, 81, what does need to write and sell a book for? History will show he was the one that wasn’t so bright—and oh yeah,Clinton was so bright—well explain the dot.com bust then.
And doesn’t his wife, Andrea Mitchell, make enough money buttkissing Democrats and Timmy Russert, that Alan has to hawk a book.
How small does a man have to be to trash Presidents, in this manner?
History will remember Bush and Reagan well, and say Alan who?
What a lying sack of _____!!
Oh for God's sake!
Only time in years I watched 60 minutes was just to see this little man, Greenspan speak without his usual wonky BS. I was not disappointed, he was just pitiful and so condescending to the Clintons. He is nothing more than a fool and a liar...just anothe GD government worker that should have been cashiered a longtime ago.
WTH is this wonk doing running the financial business of the US....and what a comment this was, “We are not the eney”, coulda fooled me...
We can hope. What a stupid thing for Greenspan to say.
The interviewing bimbo, Leslie Stahl, was asking him leading questions which would impune and discredit the President for the tax cuts. She went on with the RAT talking points about how the tax cuts hurt social security and that the deficit only got bigger. BTW, I don’t know if Ms. Stahl has had botox injections, etc, but she looks pretty crusty on a 52 inch Widescreen.
Clinton was the smartest......
Yes, so smart he even outsmarted himself and got impeached.
Although the Detroit Lions are 2-0, I quit watching them 20 years ago and have been a much happier guy on Sundays and or Mondays. Al sure is turning out to be somebody’s waterboy.
He said about Hillary—”I would probably vote Republican.”
First Goldwater, then Greenspan.
Is it inevitable that when old conservatives marry younger women they go all wobbly? At least Fred Thompson is an exception.
Another Opinion that rings true of Greenspan failures:
He won praise for his handling of the 1987 economic crash?” More like, he was partly to blame. In “Adventure Capitalist,” Jim Rogers wrote a scathing review of Greenspan’s career...Greenspan has a long, long history of failure. That is why he has a government job. He has never been very successful.
In 1974, he was head of the Council of Economic Advisors. The country was in the early days of inflation. Greenspan’s solution to inflation was to give out little WIN buttons, for Whip Inflation Now. And, of course, during his tenure, inflation went totally out of control. Whatever he tried failed miserably. He went back to work int he private sector, from which he lobbied heavily to get the job as chairman of the Federal Reserve.
Almost immediately after he got the job came the Panic of ‘87, the stock market went down about 20 percent in one day. Percentage wise, it was the biggest stock market collapse ever. Greenspan and his mutterings were part of the reason for the collapse. The week before, Greenspan had gone on and on about how the U.S. balance of trade was getting much better and things were under control. Two days later, the balance -of-trade figures came out, and they were the worst in the history of the world.
Right away, I and a lot of investors-especially internationally- realized, “This guy is either a fool or a liar. He doesn’t have any idea what’s going on.” We now know that Greenspan is no liar. He has simply never understood the stock market. He has never understood the economy.
Also, I hereby revoke my votes against Bill Clinton after all I have no right to vote in a manner disapproved of by Greenspan.
Further, I hereby retroactively vote for Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter (Oh MY God Help Me!) even though Ronald Reagan won the Cold war and brought prosperity, etc.
Can someone please ask Alan to email me with his instructions for '08?
Yes, he did indeed say he’d probably vote Republican. I’m surprised the CBS censors didn’t catch that one. Then again, he trashed the GOP the entire interview, maybe that’s his “McGiver escape” lest he feel the wrath of his party.
Based upon his affection for the Clintons and his apparent disdain for Reagan, he can’t be considered any more important than a pile of dog sh*t on your lawn...that with time will only provide nutrient to the soil when it is gone!
