Frohnmayer blasts Bush, joins race (OR Senate Race)
Oregonian ^ | 09-13-2007 | HARRY ESTEVE

Oregon's newest candidate for U.S. Senate minced no words about one of his priorities if he's elected.

"President Bush should be impeached," said John Frohnmayer, who announced his bid Wednesday as a member of Oregon's newly formed Independent Party. With that, he became the state's first Senate candidate to call for legal action against the president.

The statement drew immediate criticism. State Republican chairman Vance Day called it "reckless."

But Frohnmayer was adamant, saying Bush has ignored or inserted his own interpretation of hundreds of laws, including those regarding wiretapping and torture.

"We must respond to what amounts to constitutional demolition," he said. "If he is not impeached, the same constitutional abuse is available to the next administration."

Frohnmayer, 65, is a Corvallis lawyer, former head of the National Endowment for the Arts and brother of University of Oregon President Dave Frohnmayer. His announcement complicates and further enlivens what looks to be the headliner political race in Oregon next year.

Wow! What a loser!
This guy is a real idiot.
The Senate does not impeach, only the House of Representatives does.
And luckily for Jimmy Carter, a former president cannot be impeached.

Gordon Smith has to contend with two moonbats. With the string of bad news for the GOP Senate, This is good news. The anti-GOP vote will be divided.

Reality is going to strike these folls like a bolt from the Sky! Pohleez...the Left is dumb and dumber by the day, I don’t think GWB will be impeachable after Nov. 2008.

“Oregon’s newest candidate for U.S. Senate minced no words about one of his priorities if he’s elected.”

Ummmm, isn’t the senate election in 2008? Bush is out two months later. This is nothing but appealing to the moonbats.

The University of Oregon has a history of Communist presidents. He’s probably just the latests. He ran for Gov. as a Republican...but being Oregon, that don’t mean much.

It's worse, I think. I think the new Senators get sworn in right before or just after the President.

What are they gonna do, vote to impeach and convict in the 5 minutes between the two?

It’s great. He gets to rant without any of the responsibility of actually doing anything about it. One thing is certain, he will not be able to impeach Bush at any time during his Senate term.

Alright let me do mine:

Leans GOP
LA - Kennedy didn’t switch parties for nothing. Pickup
Maine - Retention GOP
OR - possible GOP hold, a better D candidate could change this.

Toss Ups
SD - possible GOP pick up - but doubtful without Rounds running.
MN - possible GOP retention - a better D candidate could change this
NE - Kerrey is scary - possible GOP loss

Lean Dem
New Hampshire - poss GOP loss
Colorado - poss GOP loss
Virginia - poss GOP loss

Right now I’m looking at 2 Dem seats in play and 8 R seats in play.

Not good, not good at all.

Morons, I wonder what they think of what President Lincoln and Roosevelt did? They make Bush look like an amateur.

“former head of the National Endowment for the Arts”

Surprise, surprise.

But remember, we should use federal tax dollars for such “non partisan” things.

It’s wonderful that they have an independent who will help take votes from the Dem nominee. More power to him.
