It will happen here eventually. You can't stop it. You can't mitigate it. All you can do is survive it and mourn it. To think otherwise is to have a God complex.
Certainly, "Glenn" if you have YOUR way it will. As for having a "God Complex", that's simply another lame brained, leftist, batch of psychological mumbojumbo. In REALITY, doing a bit of thinking, planning and working for mitigation is as important as "mourning" when something terrible does happen.
I happen to teach classes about "thinking" to people who generally don't think at all, kind of like you. They just "let it go and live life as it occurs". There's not a damned thing wrong with that, unless you find yourself in a disaster situation about to die -- and when a little pre-thinking might have had an impact on your survival.
I DO agree with you on one thing, it WILL happen, but it doesn't have to be completely free to happen. If Americans stand TOGETHER and think about all the little possibilities and at least do one thing about them... instead of letting "come what may" then you can, and will mitigate a larger situation. A case in point is the fact that we HAVE NOT HAD another attack like 9-11-01, and most likely WILL NOT have one like that. Instead we will have smaller, more diversified attacks, and guess what? Some times some of us do get real briefings on what is out there, what has been stopped, and what plans are. So, you think that by someone thinking about the possibilities of "what might be" is a God Complex, you really do not know how wrong you are about it. In fact, some such attacks have already been stopped in several countries, including the United States -- but you'll not hear it reported because the media it seems is like you in many ways. "Head in the sand, and by golly so should everyone's head be there..."

It is about connecting dots. Let’s start by finding out who is buying used school buses. If their names are all or mostly Mohammed, we may have a real problem.

I happen to teach classes about "thinking" to people who generally don't think at all, kind of like you. That explains a lot.
There are three modes of future:
Optimism
Pessimism
Realism.
You can't seem to grasp the third mode. Perhaps you believe there is a way to think bad things away. You can't. All you can do is turtle-up worse than we already have.
Birds gotta fly. Fish gotta swim. People gotta live.
I have a youngster and I hope nothing happens to her, but I will play the odds instead of doing this odd "group think" thing where doing something is required in order to feel like you can affect the outcome.

I agree.
What we can do, though mine are homeschooled, is look closely at Beslan and examine the things that went wrong. If the problem-solving becomes nothing more than an exercise in thinking, great. We got some brain exercise.
But it doesn't hurt to get some ideas flowing, imo. I tried to do this on the last thread about this, because I read so so extensively about Beslan and have studied Basayev and his hostage situations in great detail.
