U.S. officials begin crafting Iran Bomb plan

U.S. Officials Begin Crafting Iran Bombing Plan Tuesday , September 11, 2007

By James Rosen WASHINGTON —

A recent decision by German officials to withhold support for any new sanctions against Iran has pushed a broad spectrum of officials in Washington to develop potential scenarios for a military attack on the Islamic regime, FOX News confirmed Tuesday.

Germany — a pivotal player among three European nations to rein in Iran's nuclear program over the last two-and-a-half years through a mixture of diplomacy and sanctions supported by the United States — notified its allies last week that the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel refuses to support the imposition of any further sanctions against Iran that could be imposed by the U.N. Security Council.

The announcement was made at a meeting in Berlin that brought German officials together with Iran desk officers from the five member states of the Security Council. It stunned the room, according to one of several Bush administration and foreign government sources who spoke to FOX News, and left most Bush administration principals concluding that sanctions are dead.

The Germans voiced concern about the damaging effects any further sanctions on Iran would have on the German economy — and also, according to diplomats from other countries, gave the distinct impression that they would privately welcome, while publicly protesting, an American bombing campaign against Iran's nuclear facilities.

Germany's withdrawal from the allied diplomatic offensive is the latest consensus across relevant U.S. agencies and offices, including the State Department, the National Security Council and the offices of the president and vice president. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns, the most ardent proponent of a diplomatic resolution to the problem of Iran's nuclear ambitions, has had his chance on the Iranian account and come up empty.

We’ve had the assets for such an attack in place for a year now. This sounds more like a yearly update of the targeting plan being noticed by the MSM.

What do you think are the chances Iraq will declare war on Iran? Or that we would, without them?

It will be interesting to watch Russia’s response if this thing comes down.

The Russians are going to have to explain why their weapons systems are complete garbage. :)

Germany didn’t start World War 1, and the unfair conditions of the Treaty of Versailles ending that war led to World War 2.

The failure to gain support for another, more strident regime of sanctions has set in motion near certain military action.

It's the best course at this time anyway.

Still, once very visible preparations get underway we can expect another "flurry" of initiatives to slow this inexorable slide toward the total destruction of the Islamic State of Iran.

I expect the Russians or Chinese to introduce a SANCTIONS resolution about 30 days before we're ready to strike.

And more, we COULD implement our own "sanctions" in the form of a total blockade any time we wish...and we should get on with that NOW.

The ideal scenario would be for US, British and French jets to fly in together to take care of business.

I disagree.

I think if this is going to happen, a more ideal scenario would be US, UK, French and Israel, seeing how it's no secret Israel is the big target for destruction in the region, not to mention Israel would also be a target of any retaliation afterwards. A show of support like this would be welcome, and should be expected IMO.

Gee, I didn’t know Germany was not in WWI or WWII. Man, all those years I thought the Nazi’s were German. What were they, Romanian?

Let's see, Israel just flew a mission through Syria, landed in Turkey. Meanwhile, Germany rounds up the last of the "Giant Jihad" planned on their own country. France has told Iran to expect an asswhooping.......life is good.

Meanwhile, the oil rich goatherders of the mid-east try to make fire by rubbing sticks together.......obviously, their industry isn't quite on par with world domination yet.....hehehehe

A quote from your post:
They have caused two world wars".

They did not cause the first one; a Serbian nationalist did. And as for the Second World War, that was because of unfair conditions imposed on Germany at the resolution of the first.

Germany was definitely bad in World War 2, but they didn't cause World War 1, and the end of that caused World War 2.

“I constantly remind my most rabid liberal friends that France is now pro-Bush. It drives them nuts!!!!!!!!!!!”

I am not sure the new french government is so much pro-bush as they are more pro-French (nationalist) and pro-western in outlook than the Chirac machine.

I agree with you, and I know what you meant.

you could say that Germany instigated WWI with all of their allying which threw Europe’s powers out of balance, but they definitely didnt “start” WWI.
