This is the only time in history that the British have altered the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Caution, it is a real tear jerker.

I remember it well. After feeling nothing but anger for a week, I was very moved by that show of solidarity.

OMG. You are so right. When I saw those Brits put their hands over their hearts, that’s when it got me.

What a treat. Thank you for posting it.

This may be the singular foreign symbolic gesture of unity with the people of the United States in our nation’s history. It was incredibly moving at the time, and it still moves me to this day.

I will never forget it.

Thank you for the post. We should remember this every year.

9/11 American National Anthem Buckingham Palace

That was something to see/hear.
As well as the anthem getting a good play in Canadian venues.

I remember well that one of the things that humbled me most was the reaction across the world...all the vigils and show of grieving for us. It humbled me in a way that I have not felt before or since.

The British are good people....even if we don’t always agree. They are good....tough....people.

Oh boy, if anyone has a registered YouTube account, there is a commenter on the thread that follows the video who is cruisin’ for a bruisin’.

What makes this particularly ironic is that the first and most well-known stanza of the Star Spangled Banner deals with the only previous attack by a foreign power on the American mainland since the Treaty of Paris in 1783: the War of 1812, specifically the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore by the Royal Navy in 1814.

Thanks for posting this. I just felt so numb watching all the initial coverage and this was the first thing that really made me cry. The second was a few days later and seeing footage all of the people running back into the Pentagon.

We saw the face of evil, but we saw that there is a vast greater amount of good in the world, too.

We are still with you. Together we will sort the ba****ds out.

However, our Socialist gubbermint has a short memory.

I work amongst American friends, so we remember together.

I would have preferred a bit more support from our gubbermint instead of headlining a leftie/greeen person shuffling off this mortal coil.

IMHO the 3,000 who perished ( 60 + Brits) would warrant a bit more respect and recognition. But that is the BBC for you.
