Fred Thompson on C-SPAN (vanity)
C-Span | 9/8/2007 | Soliton

I appologize for the vanity. I haven't done one in a long time, but I got my first real look at Fred Thompson tonight. He was in Iowa talking to a crowd. He came across with the knowledge of a policy wonk on a wide range of issues, avoided pandering, and out charisma'd Bill Clinton.

I honestly believe that all the other GOP contenders are now running for Vice President.

I agree that they will have been on the scene for a long period of time and Romney and Giuliana are from the northeast quardant but I don’t see either as being able to win their home state MA or NY. Would they bring enough votes in another state into play that may help win it for the GOP? I don’t know. Huckabee being a southern governor doesn’t bring a lot to the ticket either, imo.

It most certainly will be an interesting or much discussed choice before it’s announced I’d guess. I’m lost at this stage for who it maybe. I keep trying to think outside the box and get away from traditional choices like current governors or other high profile government types.

Ain't going to happen. She just got elected Governor. She's going to fulfill her term first.

Fred is going to have to pick a Governor, and Mike Rounds is the perfect candidate for him.

You make good observations.... I personally don’t think you’ll see Hunter in a cabinet position. I think he’ll become either a lobbyist for the defense industry or a high profile PR type for one of the defense contractors. That assumes he wants to rake in some cash for a few years and his major asset/knowledge lies in the defense sector.

Secondly my view of Hunter is he lacks executive skills to manage a large department. That’s just my opinion or reading of him and I know many here don’t agree.

I’d definitely be happy with Fred/JC as the ticket.

Hmmm, Steele, interesting idea....

He certainly has at least as much personal appeal, and is more professional looking, than Obama.

She sounds really good. There are a whole host of lesser known people that I could get excited about, but other than their principles I don’t know that they would bring anything to a ticket. There are a lot that I could be enthused about, but not the rest of the Rep candidates.

Thanks for posting this about Palin.

Freddy said that... The SAME DAY that California's State Legislature Passed Gay Marriage for the SECOND TIME.

Actually, of the ones left, Duncan Hunter is the best VP material.

Michael Steele works for me. I also like Ken Blackwell and, perhaps he could put Ohio firmly in the GOP column. Ohio is kinda “purple” right now.
