The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Tuesday denounced comedian Jerry Lewis' use of the word "fag" on Lewis' annual Labor Day Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy and called on him to apologize.
"Jerry Lewis' on-air use of this kind of anti-gay slur is simply unacceptable," GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano said in a statement posted on the group's Web site. "It also feeds a climate of hatred and intolerance that contributes to putting our community in harm's way."
In the 18th hour of the 21 1/2-hour telethon Monday, Lewis -- bow tie undone and shirt collar open -- stumbled around the set at the South Coast Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, marveling at the cameraman's ability to keep up with him.
"Look how good he moves that camera, you son of a gun. Wherever I go, he goes," said Lewis, 81.
"Let's see what you do with this over here," the comedian added. Lewis then gestured toward two other cameras on the set.
"Oh, your family has come to see you. You remember Bart, your oldest son," he said, pointing to one camera.
"Jessie, the illiterate fag," Lewis said, pointing to the other.

It’s Bush’s fault! Now they will also demand the resignation of Rep. Jerry Lewis (R - CA).
Maybe GLAAD should just demand the return of all the money they donated to the cause. Oh, wait...
Besides, Jerry was obviously only referring to the acronym for the Film Actors Guild.

If he can, then Lewis owes him an apology.
To their credit, the media tried to sit on this one, but the homosexuals would have no part of it.
I wonder how much of the MDA telethon proceeds they’re going to get. And you can bet Rosie will be hosting next year.

CNN is taking something that was 70% there and stretching it to claim it was 100%.

Can we ever just give it a rest? Can’t we just ignore something like this? Was it just a slip of the tongue by an old man in the 18th hour of a marathon telethon? Do we have to scrutinize every utterance by everyone, searching for evil intent? Has J. Lewis ever done anything to hurt the homosexual community? Or anyone for that matter?
Sheesh, can’t we just blow it off?
