In a nondescript room, two blocks from the American Capitol building, a group of Bush administration staffers is gathered to consider the gravest threat their government has faced this century: the testing of a nuclear weapon by Iran.

The United States, no longer prepared to tolerate the risk that Iranian nuclear weapons will be used against Israel, or passed to terrorists, has already launched a bombing campaign to destroy known Iranian nuclear sites, air bases and air defence sites. Iran has retaliated by cutting off oil to America and its allies, blockading the Straits of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf bottleneck, and sanctioned an uprising by Shia militias in southern Iraq that has shut down 60 per cent of Iraq's oil exports.
The job of the officials from the Pentagon, the State Department, and the Departments of Homeland Security and Energy, who have gathered in an office just off Massachusetts Avenue, behind the rail terminus, Union Station, is to prevent a spike in oil prices that will pitch the world's economy into a catastrophic spin.
The good news is that this was a war game; for those who fear war with Iran, the less happy news is that the officials were real. The simulation, which took four months, was run by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank with close links to the White House. Its conclusions, drawn up last month and seen by The Sunday Telegraph, have been passed on to military and civilian planners charged with drawing up plans for confronting Iran.

“Will Bush Convert Iran To Glass Factory”
Sounds much more pro-business that way.
In the event that the President does order air strikes on Iran I hope these air strikes are so complete that there is not a military target left standing.Not even an outhouse.
I just hope that once these attacks get going the President doesn’t pull the plug prematurely,like we have done in the past. I would like to see a Dresden or Tokyo.Nothing Left standing.
Sorta like, "I wanna get very, very rich right away, but I don't want to work, steal or take any risks."

You have perfectly tagged the current “Non-Greatest Generation”. They want their BMW's to be safe but do not have the backbone to take the action to secure that safety. Should we blitzkrieg and then Tora! Tora! Tora!?
Bush really does not have much time. It would be an unthinkable and despicable act, IMO, to do this much after the beginning of his last year, absent a clear emergency. You don't start an optional war and hand it off to a likely unsupportive successor unless you are truly forced into it.
It is good to be right but, unfortunately, it is also necessary to have some reasonable level of support both at home and aborad.
(I think we had sufficient support for the Iraq war...leadership does not mean waiting until EVERYbody is on board. But the "coaliton" -- derided as it was -- is now in tatters.)
Yes, I think this could happen.
I voted for Bush twice, and, have been angry with him many times; especially on the immigration issue. However, I believe he is a man of conscience, and will do what he truly thinks is best for this country.
What’s more, I don’t think he gives a whit about his legacy once he is out of office and back home on his ranch in Crawford. I suspect we will see very little of him... If I am right about this, he is the one to rid us of the people and countries who most want to harm and/or annihilate us.

I believe you are right, and Bush is the one to do it. Nobody else has the guts.
Not likely, he seems to have lost the post 9-11 fire-in-the-belly. If he hasn’t, he sure doesn’t show it - and showing it is half the battle. IMHO
Warning and talking tough and then doing nothing is worse than not talking at all
We’ll have to disagree on this. I believe that not showing it helps to win the battle.
My crystal ball says this can gets kicked down the street to the next administration.
