The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.
About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.

I had to think about it: three antiques that won’t fire, one shotgun, three bolt action rifles, four lever action rifles, three semiautomatic rifles and five pistols (one revolver and four automatics). I didn’t know I had that many. I hope Rudy doesn’t want me to register and pay for each one.
Gotta be more anti-gun idiots among the RATs. Many people, including me, have more than one gun. There are at least 40 million RATs that wouldn’t think of having a gun.

I have both the 870 and the 1100 shotguns I love them both along with a 30-06 rem,45-70 Marlin, a stagecoach 12ga 18” double barrel with outside hammers and dual triggers, Winchester 7mm Mauser. .257 roberts,....and there are more..I started acquiring firearms when I was 14 yrs old....I love to shoot
Other guns I would put high on the list of guns that everybody owns would be Rugers .22 pistols, both single action and autoloader.
I’d disagree. Might be some form of the Mossberg 500, due to the cheap price and enduring popularity.
Whatever the most popular weapon is, it’s almost certainly a pump action shotgun of some kind.

Speaking of 45-70 Marlins, Mrs. VR-21 very recently brought home a new 1895 CB for me as a thank you for my detailing her car. I think I'll keep them both.
With this many guns in America it sure makes the number of shootings look small. Except for the number of murders committed in the African American community. Recent studies show African Americans are responsible for 48% of all murders. Yet they make up only 12% of the U.S. population. It sounds like African Americans are committing four times the murders of any other group. It’s time for existing gun laws to be enforced. It is obvious that law abiding gun owners are the majority. And no new gun laws are necessary.
I was surprised at the latter but it said there is more 30/30 rifle ammo sold here than any other caliber.( except 22 rimfire)
In Canada it said you are better off with the 303 British because its #1 there in rifle ammo.

Of course that doesn’t take into account that the gun owners probably average 4-5 pieces each. That raises the supposed 10 non-owners up considerably.
Mine is older I got in the late 70's the model is Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun 18" Model 1895G....I had gotten it cause my friend and I were planning a trip to Montana to go Grizzly hunting, my sidearm was and still have it a S&W Stainless steel 357mad.....we never went.....
Considering the "general purpose utility" of the 30-30, the availability of ammunition for and the reliability of the leverguns chambered for it the 30-30 has a lot to recommend it. I personally favor leverguns chambered for pistol cartridges like the .44 Mag, .45 Colt and .357 Magnum. The ballistics out of the longer barrels is phenomenal and they are great companion pieces for handguns.
The .303 is a great round, and though Enfield rifles generally don't appeal asthetically to Americans they are very tough and reliable. I own a No. 5 Jungle Carbine (so-called) and I wouldn't part with it. The .303 is ballistically very close to the 30-40 Krag.
Anything chosen for a "survival" scenario should have ample ammunition, spare parts and a well practiced owner.
