My God, we’re only at 90 percent. We need to do better.

Legacy Puma 454 rifles are awesome. Got one myself. yep! How's the furniture on yours?
I had to return my first one due to the stock splitting with .454 loads. The replacement had held up fine.
The first one had some ugly DARK wood, the new one is a lighter stain and I think looks a lot better.

"I had thought 30-06 but 30-30 would be fun or even 45-70."It seems to me that the double guns extraction systems best lend themselves to rimmed cartridges. I'm sure they can be made to work just fine with rimless rounds, but the neurotic in me would simply be happier with a 30-30, 303, 30-40, and yes, the 45-70. I say this as one who all but worships the 30-06 and the .308.

I agree with the 12 ga. and the .22, but I’d opt for a .30-06 over a .30-30.

That Savage 30-06 was the first “serious” rifle I bought.
I figured if for some reason I can never buy another gun the 30-06 could do it all and ammo is every where for it.
I always tell people when they are buying their first hunting gun to get a 30-06. Probably the most versital round ever made.

With a little more work, we can get that up to 100...There are still 3 guns I want to add to my shootin' collection. That'll put me at 13.
uh-oh! That's unlucky. Good thing I also dream of owning my very own Springfield M-14

It’s not how many guns a person owns. It’s what he can do with the one he has.
The gun slacker I know of is the one who owns guns but doesn’t join or support one of the many gun groups which protect your ability to own those guns.

The heaviest rifle I’ve fired was a .375 H&H. Did it once. That was enough. I’m a .30-06 guy, myself (see my nic?).

And a fine nic it is 06. The Holland is a bit like the .44 Magnum if you're a handloader. They can be loaded up or down to suit the user. I have a load that almost perfectly duplicates the 30-06 trajectory (165 gr.) with a 235gr. Speer soft point, and I used it for a coupled of years for deer hunting to good effect. The only reason I stopped was because the rifle was too heavy in the mountains, and I hate to neglect my other rifles. I'm not particularly recoil sensitive but one can't argue that a full house Holland can jump. I tried to shoot one of mine from prone position once, and I was worthless after about 5 rounds. It plain hurt.
If I had to pare back to one rifle (unthinkable as that is) I'd go with my Winchester M70 chambered for 30-06.

I’ve never been a huge Savage fan, but they’re good guns. I always liked the old National Match Springfield from the ‘30s I used to have, and my bedded and seated Winchester M70 for long-range .30-06 bolt actions. My dad was a collector, and I got to shoot a whole lot of military rifles from M1895 Winchester Russians, Spanish Mausers and Krags right on through the semi-autos from WWII - M1s, Johnsons, Gewehr41 and 43. For sheer pleasure in shooting, I think I liked the old Mauser K98a in 7.92 mm best.

Let’s get that up to 101 guns per 100 people in the next couple of years. And then keep going.
Are these figures drawn up from gun sales? From gun stores and gun shows and flea markets? We may actually be well over 101 guns per 100 people already.
Let’s not let anybody in Washington or our state capitols decrease this number.

It’s been a looong time, but I rather liked the .375H&H magnum. More recoil, than a .416 Rigby, but handleable. I did try .458 Win and .460 Weatherby magnums, but they were a bit much. I could use one if I needed to, but I can’t say it would be very pleasant.

U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 peopleHello?
The gun-o-phobia crowd has been citing 2 or 3 guns for every man, woman and child in the U.S. for years!
What's happening?
