Statement of Senator Craig:
BOISE, ID - Idaho Senator Larry Craig made the following statement in response to the Roll Call story this afternoon:
"At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions. I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct.
"I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously."
LOL - it’s Butch Otter, the Governor, reacting to the news. Yes, that’s his real name.
Don't get out of the house much huh? If I didn't use public rest rooms I would need to change underwear several times a day, and most likely my pants as well.
Maybe i’m just good at holding it in and have a reasonably short workday? Works 95% of the time anyway. I’m not even a rich Senator. I thought all Senators had private jets anyway.
He accosted no one. He communicated to the other person that he was queer to elicit a response. That should not be a crime.
How do you know how far back Craig was from the stall door? And there is almost always a crack that can be seen through on these doors. And anyone who would stand at a occupied stall door for more than a second to confirm it is occupied is odd, to say the lest.
Christ, I can’t believe you are trying to excuse this faggot. Why in heck would you wave your hand under the stall and touch the other guys foot, that was within his stall, if not to establish contact?
The sooner we can clean the GOP of scum like this, the better.
I met his wife once—nice lady. She was no Princess Di but she was friendly and seemed like she was committed to her family. She talked about how much they had enjoyed a family vacation down the Snake River and she encouraged me (a person with hydrophobia) to go.
I agree that something is amiss here.
He was arrested in June, but it took more than two months for the story to break. Why now? And where are the infamous mug shots of this guy?
It’ll be interesting to see who runs for his seat in the Seante next year. Cui bono?
From the article, the vice officer was there because of complaints of people having homo-sex in this bathroom. He was there to put a stop to it.
Do you expect the vice officer to have Craig go down on him before he arrest him?
Geez, use some sense.
I corresponded with her husband very briefly on the matter of his immigration stance. He seemed very cordial if a bit misguided. I'm very sorry for the family. This sort of stuff hurts them worse than it hurts him.
Romney campaign removes Craig video
At least one Republican presidential campaign was affected by Monday’s report that a senator had been arrested for allegedly “lewd” conduct in a men’s bathroom.
“Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) who has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in connection with an incident where he allegedly solicited a plainclothes police officer in a men’s restroom is one of Mitt Romney’s top backers in the Senate,” Jonathan Martin writes at Politico. “A clip of Craig praising Romney was until just moments ago available on Romney’s YouTube channel, but is now listed as ‘a private video.”’
The video was later removed from the Internet by the Romney campaign.

Woe. What did Benny Hinn do to get in that group?
Yes, he is still on the air. Are you sure it was Rusty Humphry and not Ken Hamblin? If it was Rusty did you literally run him out or just not get him on a local station anymore? And if it was Rusty why?
“As to him being gay or not, I could care less.”
I guess that’s what I would expect from a Rudy supporter...
We've got a lunatic who got caught down here in FL who would agree with you. Fortunately, we also have other govt. officials who understand that public bathrooms are no one's private tryst houses. I'm tired of mothers having to bring their near teenage boys into bathrooms with them. Homosexuals make up one of the wealthiest demographic groups around. So you can't tell me they don't have homes. They scream about their rights. Well, there is no right to public sex. When they go out, they'll either have to learn restraint or be restrained.
He should have never pleaded guilty in the first place. He taps his foot, moves his foot around the stall, waves his hand. So what? Resign? No way. It's up to the people in that state to decide whether to send him back in 2008.
In Senator Craig’s defense, I still appreciate his reliably conservative votes prior to this year. In retrospect, it is now clear in the recent change in his congressional behavior was due to external forces. It is a terrible shame that someone like this would allow themselves to be compromised for the sake of some perverse gratification. I will pray that he repents and reforms his life so that he may find peace from his many demons.
These elderly queens spend their whole lives pretending to care about family values and getting elected, then they get sloppy in their old age.
