Statement of Senator Craig:

BOISE, ID - Idaho Senator Larry Craig made the following statement in response to the Roll Call story this afternoon:

"At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions. I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct.

"I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously."

I cannot comment, because, if I had been in the cop’s place I could have experienced it without giving it a thought. yhay makes me naive, I guess. Thank God.

When is the LAST time a Republican just didn't roll over and play dead when accused of a crime?

The Senator's ONLY [HUGE] problem is that he PLEAD GUILTY before growing a set!

Actual guilt is a moot point now!!

I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously.

He should know by now that that is not possible for someone in his position.

It is up to the people of that state to correct the issue.

I have stopped giving any fund to national political parties (NRCC, NSRC, etc.

I only now give to a specific congressman or his P.A.C..

He DID plead guilty. Now its time for him to do the honorable thing - RESIGN HIS SEAT!

Didn’t President Bush support the Democrats (and other Republicans besides Craig?).

As to him being gay or not, I could care less.

Wasn’t this the guy who called a press conference a few years ago to deny he was gay, when no one had publicly claimed that he was? I found that bizarre at the time. I don’t care what he is, as long as he keeps it to himself and doesn’t violate the law, which is apparently what he just did.

"if I had been in the cop’s place I could have experienced it without giving it a thought."

Being a men's restroom and all, I think'd you'd have given some thought to the experience. I also think there'd be less subtlty than the tapping of feet.

true, but this happened in june! not 10 yrs ago(although it may
have happened then, too.) the dems have been warning the repubs
about this. after foley and haggard, i can’t imagine why craig would
continue with such behavior.

The Republicans need to pull out the long knives and do some exposes' on some of the democrats' sordid misbehavior.

As long as this kind of public frolicking is okay with the Demokratz the Pubbies can save their energy.

Certainly not leadership material.
