"What I did was very immature so that means I need to grow up," he said.
He said, "Through this situation I've found Jesus."

Yep!
My neighbor who is black, and an execute employee at the Miami Dolphin Stadium told me that this is nothing new, it goes on all over the places with plenty of athletes involved!!
It is just that Vick, unluckily, got caught with his fingers in the "cookie jar"!!!
or a boyfriend
It is funny.
People are making a huge deal about this Mike Vick thing. What he did was disgusting and wrong. He deserves his punishment.
But what about the people who will kill up to approx 4000 unborn babies a day in the USA tomorrow ? Those unborn babies deserve more protection than the dogs at Bad Newz Kennels.
What goes through the minds of those abortion docs. (Kill some unborn babies, swing through Wendys for lunch, go back to work and kill more “uterine contents”)
People are looking at Mike Vick like he is Adolf Hitler while there are abortionists and baby killers roaming our streets with freedom to kill more babies.
what a disgusting society we live in !
Do I eat beef or pork?
Absolutely NOT!Nor do I eat fowl.
I have contributed to the death of thousands of heads of lettuce, however.
I found this really interesting and had to tell someone. I was listening to Howard Stern today (I know he's real popular on FR and the Howard ping list is huge :-)
But I digress. It was a replay of a show I had never heard in which he had 3 attractive PETA whackos on the show. He coerced them into doing unnatural acts for the audience's amusement by threatening to kill a lobster if they didn't comply.
SORRY, LET ME GET TO THE POINT THAT PEOPLE HERE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN:
A caller asked them if they are pro choice and they danced and ducked around the issue like it was a live grenade. That's the thing with animal rights activists...they love animals...but they hate people. Liberals have no problem killing human babies but march in protest and throw paint on models in fur coats.
But you do, and you despise him. And then mock his profession of faith, which could be insincere, but no one knows that.
And why didn't you use my entire sentence?
I said that we do not have to judge Vick because the justice system has already done that.
[ So stop trying to defend a criminal. ]
I don't. He broke the law and should pay the price. The problem is the inordinate venom for Vick motivated by equating animals with humans - a principle which is denied but obviously felt.
So far I haven't seen any of that on these threads.
That is just a straw man that keep being brought up.
If we were associating dogs with humans we would be demanding the death penalty.
You guys are just upset because we think he should be punished with jail time and not slapped on the wrist.
This is purely theoretical, but suppose you were given a choice - your favorite pet dies, or Michael Vick dies. Which would you choose? If you choose "favorite pet", then you equate animals with humans, or rather animals over humans.
Amazing!
I love how you guys come up with 'lifeboat' situations.
If the choice came down on who should survive in a lifeboat, an animal or human being, the human would, all things being equal, get first priority.
Michael Vick is sick, but so are those who hate him.
No, we hate criminals.
This is a conservative site and if you read the threads on how we feel about criminals, we have very little sympathy with them, no matter what type of crime or who they committed it against.
Vick is not 'sick' he is evil.
And is responsible for the evil acts he committed against the animals.
He can repent of his evil acts and try to make some restitution for them, but I am not going to give him any credit till I say some acts which show that.
No, I dont. And you cant make me.
I don't have to 'make you' that's what you have been doing by attacking those who are against him by a broad brush smear saying they are PETA advocates.
Very true.
But it is not so much the fact that the game is 'rough', but that many of these guys have been coddled since the time they were seen to have any athletic ability and thus, think they do not have to obey the rules of society.
Even Vick's apology was tainted with words like 'growing up', 'immaturity, and made a 'mistake', rather then words that had a moral implication, such as' what I did was immoral, and criminal'.
Those around him are still enabling him, guys like Jim Horn who actually think he is going to play again in the NFL.
I cannot look at the scenes of dog fighting shown on TV, and I cannot comprehend how many dare to show their faces on TV and plead for a second chance for him. (There are some on this thread also but they hide in anonymity.)
Amen and amen.
Well since he has found HeyZeus he will want to do the right thing and give back that 22 mil to the Falcons. Will there be an announcement coming forth today?
I never attack anyone, online. I have never used the acronym PETA. I have tried to identify the general ethical principles underlying the widely disparate attitudes of many people toward different animals and activities which harm those animals. I have not been very successful.
Jesus is not lost in the eyes of a convict. He is always standing on the courthouse steps. Those accused of crimes pick him up on the way in to court and drop him off as they leave court.
You may not have used the acronym PETA but you were referring to their philosophy-which I would say most of us on FR reject outright.
You stated that those who were against Vick were so because of jealousy over his income-I would consider that an 'attack'.
No, you haven't been 'successful' because the issue is not 'animal rights' but cruelty to animals-two different issues.
Forget between the lines on what Vick said, look between the lines at what Goodell said, it’s his statements that will decide Vick’s fate. And between the lines of what Goodell said he declared Vick a liar beholden to illegal gambling interests and exactly the type of person that shouldn’t be anywhere near the league. There was also a bit of a call out to Virginia to get cracking and remove the entire issue from the table by throwing Vick in jail for even longer. Any pressure Goodell is under from the money interests to keep Vick is minimal compared the pressure he’s been getting since day 1 to stop the bad press flow the league is getting from law breaking players. And keep in mind Goodell came up the PR side of the house, I doubt any other commissioners have been as sensitive to bad press as Goodell.
You’re making a modest proposal, then.
I think you must have confused me with someone else.
If I did, I apologize.
In that case, Vick is, a self-marooned man. He’s surrounded by pikers feeding him fancies until all his money is no more.
