REDHEADS are becoming rarer and could be extinct in 100 years, according to genetic scientists.
The current National Geographic magazine reports that less than two per cent of the world's population has natural red hair, created by a mutation in northern Europe thousands of years ago.
Global intermingling, which broadens the availability of possible partners, has reduced the chances of redheads meeting and producing little redheads of their own.
It takes only one red-haired parent to produce ginger-headed babies, but two redheads obviously create a much stronger possibility.
If the gingers really want to save themselves they should move to Scotland.
An estimated 40 per cent of Scots carry the red gene and 13 per cent actually have red hair.
Some experts say that redheads could be gone as early as 2060, but others say the gene can be dormant for generations before returning.

Not sure on what that is based. Sure, there are unattractive people of every ilk. Also, "real true" redheads are prone to freckling. (Not something that bothers me in the least in terms of looks.)
I've met a great many real true redheads who are indeed "great lookers".
I'm married to one.

As a redhead/ginger, I was surprised our son (meaning me and my husband’s son, not yours, poster - LOL) wasn’t born with bright red hair like mine. But I’m also relieved. Redheads run one of two ways in my opinion: hot or not. There’s generally no in-between with regards to appearance. (Except me, of course, Mrs. Mediocre - a title I’m very happy with!) And kids can be so cruel - especially to redheads. So I was relieved that he’ll have one less thing to be teased about as he gets older. His hair (see my profile for a pic) is kind of strawberry blonde. Whew.
I’m going against the Redhead Creed by saying this, but I think lots of redheads are kind of scary looking. And I think for “real” gingers...freckles, pale skin, brilliant orangey hair....it’s a tough look to pull off - especially for boys.
And since we are on the subject, this little bit of oft-posted drivel is always a thought-provoker...
The Seven Deadly Sins of Gilligan's Island theory is quite simple. Each of the seven characters on the island represents each of the seven deadly sins. Now, this theory seems to fit upon initial inspection, there are technical difficulties when you get down to THE MAN himself, Gilligan.Run with me on this one...
Most obvious is the Professor, who fits PRIDE to a T. Any man who can make a ham radio out of some wire and two coconuts has to be pretty cocky. (His character was later revised and given a series of his own, called MacGuyver".)
For the sin of ENVY we need look no further than Maryann, who may have worn those skimpy little tops, but could never achieve Ginger's glamour.
And who could doubt for a moment that Ginger is LUST incarnate? Sure, the kids were supposed to think she was ACTING, but we all know what being deprived episode after episode was doing to her. You know and I know that glazed look wasn't boredom, my friends.
What kind of person takes a trunk full of money on a three-hour cruise? Mr Howell gets my vote for GREED.
We are now left with three characters and three Deadly Sins. We have Gilligan, the Skipper and Mrs Howell to whom we must match GLUTTONY, SLOTH and ANGER. As you can see, there is a Gilligan problem here.
Certainly we can further eliminate Mrs Howell from this equation by connecting her with SLOTH. She did absolutely nothing during her many years on the island except lay on a lounge chair and everybody knows it.
This leaves ANGER and GLUTTONY, either of which the Skipper had no shortage. He was, after all, a big guy with the tendency to hit Gilligan with his hat at least once an episode. After much consideration, I have decided that he can easily do double-duty, covering the two remaining Deadly Sins.
So here we have the Seven Deadly Sins trapped in an endlessly recurring Hell of hope followed by denial and despair, forced to live with each other in our TVs until the last re-run ends. And who is their captor? What keeps them trapped there?
Gilligan.
Gilligan is SATAN. Think about it!

I beg to differ with you! I have a red headed grandson (who also happens to be left handed) who is a very handsome 9 year old. His naturally strawberry blond mom, with naturally curly hair is also beautiful!

Bette Midler? Why is she lumped in with historical figures? “The Rose” wasn’t THAT good a movie.
Notice I said “usually”. I have know a number of redheads over the years and decided long ago that it is something of a curse. Not to say your grandson is not one handsome dude. What he will grow up to look like is another story.
p.s. I think my grandson is handsomer than your grandson. ;9)
