I appreciate your starting another thread on this topic. I would like to make an observation though.
People who do not have systems capable of handling large graphics should use the tools functions to turn off loading graphics.
The rest of us should not have to forgo the latest technology just because they can’t use it.
This has been a little irritating over the years. Please don’t take it personally.
Take care...
Chances are the dial ups don’t know what right click means either....I see surprise in the dial up’s eyes...huh options to turn off pictures!?!
Besides rural people who do not have access to broadband, there are FReepers who lose their broadband connections during the storms (e.g. no electricity for modems). They are only left with dial up connections, running off laptops via batteries. I labor to maintain these threads for people who are potentially in the storm's path with life and property on the line.
Most problematic are the looped graphics that hang up the best broadband connection when the host sites are completely overwhelmed with traffic. Last, and the least, there are the stunning 4000 by 7200 pixel animations that inevitably get addressed to me, and hose up my window to the point I can't find posts addressed to me.
Links with colorful descriptions have worked well over the years.
I just try and post a link to the large pics or animated graphics with a warning for those without high speed. In times past, there was a size cap and this seems to work well enough to satisfy everyone.
