NO, California pays upkeep for the prisoners at a private prison in MS. Apparently real estate and labor costs are lower in “AM I, ESS ESS I, double ESS, I peepee, I”.

“Are there any geniuses in Mississippi?(just kidding)”
I know you are just kidding, but... There can’t be too many in the Dept of Corrections if they are letting this happen.

I’ve always thought they should be sent to Russia. After all, the Russians have great experience handling prisoners. They have the remnants of the Gulag that could be rehabed to accomodate new arrivals. Given the vastness of Russia, who would try to escape, and as it gets very cold in Siberia, who would want to escape.

Thanks for the info. Guess under these circumstances they both win, Missi gets more jobs and Cali saves some money. But when it’s all said and done, we are the losers.

I would think it an honor to serve one’s sentence in the county made famous by “Ode to Billy Joe”.

There cant be too many in the Dept of Corrections if they are letting this happen. I've known of several small towns/counties that had excess jail capacity. They took prisoners from DC and California and made a profit on it.

“Ive always thought they should be sent to Russia.”
That’s a stellar idea.
I just wish they would send these guys back where they came from. Airdrops would be fine since they are flying them out of CA anyways. PYOP.

Haley Barbour would be a candidate, he didn’t seem to lose too many brain cells during his brush with DC :D Next to Blanco, he looks like a positive Einstein (not to faintly praise with damnation :) )

Good place to send them, bet they are shocked.
At least we have prisons other than Parchman now, I can remember that some of us in law enforcement in the 60’s, 70’s were nearly run out of the state for asking for more prisons.

Gee between the unemployables/thugs already well established in Jackson and the delta towns, and now the illegals, Mississippi is certainly going to rise above being 50th in everything, isn’t it? ;-)

Tutwiler and its surroundings are some of the most impoverished areas in the country. The locals need any industry they can get.

The same thing happened in Indiana, the state built a "medical " facility, in NewCastle.
They claimed it was never used for Indiana general population prisoners because of a lack of guards and staff...but suddenly Arizona wanted to dump a load of prisoners here and amazingly the "staffing" appeared.
The result a failed program that ended in a RIOT.
Prisons are no longer treated as a necessary evil, they are warehouses for the highest bidder.

Whats a private prison?
One in which the toilets have curtains in front of them. No, it's a prison that's owned and run by a private company.

Prisoners sent to Mississippi...
wonder if MS would be interested in all the illegals from the peoples’ republic of the sanctuary state of New Jersey?????
To: NerdDad
The NAACP is crying bloody murder for the prisoners right now here in North Mississippi. There are no air conditioners in the jails here and the temperature is oppressive and the jail cells are intolerable. Prison is what its supposed to be here, not any fun. These Californicate prisoners are going to get a real jolt when they get to Tutweiler...its not nice there right now and many prisoners are doing all they can to keep from being sent to these facilities in this state...
To: vetvetdoug
Couldn’t be very much worse than it is for citizens who work in construction and the like, in the same temperatures, being gainfully and legally employed, right?
