After being virtually tied with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for several months, Republican contender Rudy Giuliani now leads Clinton up 47% to 40% in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
In the match-up of the frontrunners, this result marks a significant shift. For the last three months the two frontrunners have never been further apart than three percentage points. Last month, Giuliani and Clinton were separated by just a single point.

Rudy vs. Hillary is a no brainer. He is exponentially better than she is.
Too bad not all of us here see it that way. I’ll know who to blame if Hillary wins.
Either put Gore and Thompson in the polls of their respective party or put neither in until they declare, then we will see the true strength of the leading Republicans.
That’s what I’m saying. I would prefer Fred though.
People will come out in droves simply to vote against Hitlary.
That's exactly the impossible choice that Conservatives keep having to make. In California, it was vote for Arnold or get the communist. Now, we are being offered the choice of a communist and a New York City RINO.
In California, RINO's have corrupted the Republican party and essentially given us a milder form of liberal socialism. We have progressively been moved left by our own "conservative" representatives. Now it is happening on a national level. A vote for Rudy is akin to putting a finger in the dike while the walls of the dam are cracking to the point of no return. This is not much of a choice.
I’m in CA, too. Aside from Hunter and Rorabacher, stalwarts, the rest of our Repubs are a different breed.
Nationaly, the GOP nominates their favorite candidate, unlike the Dems who pick their second favorite on the premise of electablity (see Dean, Howard, and soon to be, Obama, Barack.)
I don’t think Rudy will make it unless the Florida primary turns out to be a bigger deal than we expect. I think either Romney or Fred (hopefully Fred) will make it.
Sounds about right.
Well maybe, but I never saw much resemblance between Chelsea and Hillary, and because Bill is a "hard dog to keep on the porch," I'm not so sure.... ;-)
What! Utterly unacceptable! Giuliani is just a stalking horse for Ron Paul.
I think the more Shrillery opens her mouth, the less people like her. Those of us at Freep, of course, boarded the Hillary is a SHREW train on January 20, 1993 and haven’t disembarked since.
Rudy’s on top of Hillary? Hey . . .
I don’t care what happens, I swear I will not vote for him or Hillary. If the GOP doesn’t have the balls to find a real conservative candidate then we deserve whatever idiot makes it into the White House. Sorry, but I am sick and tired of settling for “the better of two evils”.
There is absolutelly no way I’m voting for him.
gotta draw the line somewhere
that’s how beasts get elected.....if it ain’t pure I won’t vote......take your ball and go home
“There is absolutelly no way Im voting for him.
This means you will absolutely not support a Republican candidate who:
1. Will cut taxes.
2. Will reduce the size of the Federal government.
3. Is rock solid on terrorism and foreign policy.
4. Has pledged to put strict constructionists on the Supreme Court.
5. Is fearless in confronting the Liberal media.
6. Is committed to building the wall and an electronic border for Mexico and forcing all illegals to be identified.
7. Is undeniably the best law and order guy out there.
and
8. Has the balls to pound on Congress and anyone else necessary to get his way.
You ABSOLUTELY won’t vote for Giuliani and would sit home and watch Hillary get elected???
Here is probably the dumbest question you will get...who is Mr. Hunter? I know the name, but cannot place it. Thanks.
He knocked it out of the park and across the city. I mean, this man can speak, plainly and with great force and, forgive me, lol, 'gravitas'. He does not mince words, like our Prez and much like Reagan-his short talk had us on our feet.
She’s unelectable. Period.
How's this scenario - the 2004 electoral map doesn't change, except Ohio flips to the dems, which is likely at this point. That means Hillary, Obama, or whatever dem nominee wins.
Add the possibility that 2 or even 3 of the following 4 states go to the dems: Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado. It could easily be all four.
Hilly polls strong in Florida. That's the least likely state to flip of the ones I mentioned, but it's possible.
What dem states may go GOP? Depends on the nominee - NJ and PA come to mind if Rudy is the GOP nominee. Wisconsin was close in 2004 can slip, but I can't say that state is more GOP-leaning now than it was 2 years ago. But to be entirely honest, odds are much more likely the dems win 1/2 of those states I listed above, and odds are the GOP wins none of the states I mentioned in this paragraph.
