Gingrich 'sickened' with Bush, Congress ("young Americans..massacred by illegal immigrants)
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | Aug. 14, 2007 | EUNICE MOSCOSO

Posted on 08/14/2007 3:45:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

on vacation "while young Americans in our cities are massacred" by illegal immigrants.

Gingrich, who is considering a run for the White House, was referring to a recent crime in Newark, N.J., where three college students were murdered execution style in a school playground.

One of the suspects -- Jose Lachira Carranza -- is an illegal immigrant from Peru who was on bail on charges of raping a child when the murders occurred.

Gingrich said another suspect is an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua with a long record of arrests who was ordered deported in 1993 but never left.

However, The (Newark) Star Ledger reported Tuesday that the man -- Rodolfo Godinez -- obtained permanent legal residency in 2001.

The Newark Police Department did not return requests for comment.

Gingrich said that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "even more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"The federal government's incompetence, timidity and uncoordinated efforts to identify and deport criminal illegal aliens have had devastating consequences for innocent Americans," Gingrich said, in a newsletter.

Gingrich said that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "even more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"As an American, I am sickened that the political leadership of America could continue to go on vacation and do nothing," he said. "Why are the August vacations for the president and the Congress more precious than the lives of young Americans who are being killed because of government incompetence and inaction."

Gingrich said that President Bush should call Congress back into special session for three days to pass a bill in honor of the slain students.

The measure should order the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security to outsource the development of an identification system to check the legal status of felons and have it up and running by Jan. 1, 2008, he said.

In addition, it should withdraw federal aid from any city, county or state that refuses to participate in checking the legal status of arrested felons, Gingrich said.

Authorities say six people, including four juveniles, were involved in the Aug. 4 murders of Terrance Aeriel, 18; Dashon Harvey, 20; and Iofemi Hightower, 20, according to news reports. A fourth victim, 19-year-old Natasha Aeriel, survived after being shot in the head.

Three of the six suspects are in custody, including Carranza, who turned himself into authorities. Three are at large.

Police have said that robbery was the motive for the killings.

"newt sat on his hands and NEVER did anything about illegal immigration..."

You responded - "So!"

Speaks volumes about you when you defend him when attacking others about illegal immigration.

That has been a hot topic issue for many years but I guess you missed that while gate watching.

No, it has not been a "HT" issue for many years, that's BS!

I will grant you this though, I have missed it, as the rest of America has for a long time, but 911 changed all that!

It's the perfect Free Republic thread!!

Freebashing. I'm waiting for all the Newt-bashers to zero in on the announced presidential candidates of both parties, not one of whom has apparently had the 'nads, in the aftermath of the assault in question, even to speak out as Newt has.

I totally agree with you. If any candidate wishes to stand up for the US citizens, he just might be able to win in 2008!

Great link!!

Newt seems forgetful recently.

Maybe he is afraid his wife is cheating on him.

The whole southern health care system was decimated by illegals for many many years before GW. It was a hot topic issue and most people were aware of it, including Newt, who IGNORED overhauling our immigration system.

I doesn’t if Illegal immigration was an big issue back then or not. Newt did nothing.. Nada.. Zip..

You holi-than-thou zealots act like this has been the only issue in the world since the dawn of time and it just hasn't. He didn't do alot things, are you going to hold him responsible for eveything that's gone awry in America, especially when Illegal-Immigration was not even a major issue that ever came up back in the early 90's??

I wouldn't worry about Gingrich. After all, this supposed genius got handed his political ass by a slick-talking corrupt Arkansas hillbilly.

Gingrich isn't Presidential material and I'm beginning to suspect that he's not adviser material either.

Are there any statistics out there with the crimes committed by illegals? Sure would like to see that, although I fear that the records would be an understatement with so many cities acting as “sanctuary”, thus likely not reporting the immigration status (or even asking about it).

It was NOT a HT issue! The last time we even looked at II was in the 80's with Reagan who basically gave them a break!

If you want to try and show me where it was a hot topic issue in 1994-2000 I'll be watching, but I just don't recall II being this massive problem that people recognized and were screaming about at the time.

Read Newt’s votes on illegal immigration from post #35. Newt has zero credibilty to speak out on illegal immigration.

No, I'm not saying that. II started way back I'll agree, but it wasn't a major forefront issue that anybody wanted to deal with in the 90's.

" that anybody wanted to deal with in the 90's."

Including Newt, whom you want to give a pass to. It was a major issue and Gingrich was aware of the problem but chose to ignore it and kick it down the road for someone else to deal with.

big surprise - someone steps out of the ‘us vs. them’ mold and they get tarred and feathered.

This is the tactic I abhore the most about the democrats. No matter how serious the issue, it’s always about something else. Here it’s about Newt’s past actions. It’s about his attacking conservatives. It’s about his prior and current wife. It’s about his green policy. Oh to hell with it, it’s about everything but dead US Citizens.

Whether this message is delivered by Newt or Hillary Clinton, we must have action on this issue. We must expell the illegals. We must stop the auto thefts, the molestations, the rapes, the murders and the rest of it. We need to stop the sacking and pillaging of the United States. Damn if it hasn’t gotten to the point that it almost seems as if the Romans have conquered, and now expect to have their way with our women and children.

You know what, I don’t like that misdirection tactic when our side pulls it out of their -ss anymore than I like it when the Dems do.

Illegal aliens are the target, pure and simple. Now lets get to work!
