To members of Free Republic and friends, I would like to introduce a candidate for President of the United States and the current congressman from the 52nd district of California, Duncan Hunter!! To Americans who value the patriotism and missions of our Armed Forces, to those who want to put fear into the hearts of our adversaries from Beijing to Tehran, to those who value the rule of law when it comes to illegal immigration, to those who realize that the unborn deserve full legal protection beginning at conception, to those who believe Peace through Strength is far more than a motto, to those who do not like giving communist China unfettered access to our markets while they cheat at every turn, to those who want to halt and reverse losses of US sovereignty to global entities, and to those who want the GOP to return to Reaganism, Mr. Hunter is the Best choice.
Congressman Hunter currently is the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee, after spending the previous 4 years as its chair. He is an original co-sponsor of the Fair Tax bill and he is the author of the Secure Borders bill, signed by President Bush in 2006, which mandates 800+ miles of double fence across the smuggling corridors of the SW. He also is the man who has led the fight against NAFTAs Mexican truckers having free reign on our roads, has forced congressional oversight of the executive branchs Security and Prosperity Partnership with Canada and Mexico, and was instrumental in saving our military intelligence officers from having to jump through bureaucratic hoops unrelated to combat.
A Vietnam combat Veteran himself, he currently has a son in the Marine Corps, Capt. Duncan Duane Hunter who is busy hunting jihadis in Afghanistan after two tours in Iraq. Congressman Hunter has been the anti-dote to the liberals in Congress doing their damndest to cut and run from the battlefield. Mr. Hunter knows that this war is our generations calling, and the only way we can leave is to WIN.
Below are 15 questions we compiled last month on Free Republic, which we sent to Congressman Hunter a few weeks ago. They are followed by his answers. This is the springboard we will use to kick off Mr. Hunters live virtual press conference on FR today.
Please stop by and say hello and you may post additional questions. HOWEVER, Please realize that time limitations will prevent him from answering all the questions you may have. Though he may get time later to forward answers to many left unaddressed during this session.
Please drop Jim Robinson a note of thanks as well. For not only hosting this event, but for having the best conservative website in the country!
Also, no disruptors allowed. Your posts will be removed.
The following is our Kickoff Q&A session:
Terri's Freepers carry on so that natural death is the norm, not an exception. Natural death is not a religious right but a human right.
Further, it is wrong for the media to refer to Ms. Schiavo as an "issue". She was a human being whose rights were stepped on by many special interest groups and as you know, even by republicans.
Euthanasia is supposed to be illegal but it crept in much the way illegal immigration crept in.
I would hope disabled Americans whether they are veterans or not would have civil liberties in you administration. Terri's death began the first exodus of dollars and volunteering from the GOP. People like me would like to be republicans again but not until opposition to EUTHANASIA becomes part of the GOP platform.
The poor girl was railroaded.
http://www.judgegeorgegreer.com (a Republican). Some of your opponents are being funded by folks mentioned there. No need for you to comment on the web site noted above. I am providing FYI only. Euthanasia and genocide are global problems but let's start with the GOP platform. If it must be done without mentioning her name, so be it. It must however, be done.
Fregards, that is all I have to say.
floriduh voter
I'm glad no one got on him for being a noob and posting his first post 3 times...LOL
“Im not adverse to defending TR, just not here.”

Something was going awry when he was trying to post his first post. Jim fixed it.
Yea I know, no problem!
Just a little levity...
:>)
Oh and good job getting this thing together with DH and FR. Great job!
Congressman Hunter, you have my continued support and my vote.
>I can’t wait to see Mr. Hunter speak tomorrow night.<
Keep us posted, will you tg?
I have a few donations I made that I don’t see also. But they may have been made to the PAC. I don’t know.
I’ve only made one $50 donation through the website. All the rest of my contributions, including the one I am about to mail, are sent directly to La Mesa, and addressed to Hunter for President. All in all, I’ve contributed over $1400.00 so far. I hope everyone who said they were sending money since Sunday follows through, too. :)
When you do it through the mail, do you get any kind of receipt or acknowledgement? Were the checks cashed? And they are still not showing on OpenSecrets?
No receipts or acknowledgements. I presume they were cashed. They were made out of several money market fund accounts, and they’ve shown up on my statements. And today open secrets is $800 short. I reported this to La Mesa in a note included with my latest contribution, which I just got back from mailing.
The federal government has NO business forcing Americans to get permission from the Department of Homeland Security in order to work.
Combating illegal immigration does not require such a loss of liberty and privacy. And believe me, this would be an unprecedented loss of liberty and privacy. Go ahead and read the link I provided for some of the legitimate concerns raised (and it barely scratches the surface).
How can you enforce existing laws if no one knows a persons legal status?
You act as though the existing system has never identified an illegal immigrant. And yet, employer crackdowns manage to make the news now and again. The only thing that prevents their broader success is the policy of G.W. Bush, under whose leadership the crackdowns decreased.
>>>You act as though the existing system has never identified an illegal immigrant.
Sanctuary states do not report or identify illegal aliens.
“The federal government has NO business forcing Americans to get permission from the Department of Homeland Security in order to work”.
That is an erroneous statement. No one is giving you permission to work. They are PREVENTING illegals from working.
It is the equivalent to saying that having to show your driver’s license to get into a tavern is preventing you from drinking there.
That's a non sequitur.
The Employment Eligibility Verification System would make you completely at the mercy of the Department of Homeland Security in order to be "eligible" to work. If they require biometric data from you, and you refuse, you cannot be employed anywhere in the United States. If they adopt the REAL ID card with a RFID chip, as is currently the plan, you cannot work without one. The potential abuses of that technology are readily available on the 'net for your information.
And no, per the Privacy Act of 1974, there are only twelve conditions under which you are required by law to produce your SSN, and applying for a job is not one of them.
You are blowing smoke, frankly.
