What is your point in spending so much time spamming a thread for the most conservative presidential candidate out there?

Which RINO candidate are you a shill for sir/ma’am?

Duncan Hunter has won, or came in 3rd in straw polls, even when he was outspent by Romney at least 2 - 1.

This time Hunter was working on Iraq issues, while the other candidates were campaigning. He only arrived in Iowa just in time for the debate.

Hunter put our country’s defense before politics. Refreshing, eh?

Hunter wasn’t very far behind Rudy, who is the top frontrunner at this point in time, so what does this all mean? :) Not that much.

Basically, what I see from the results in the past is that the Iowa straw poll doesn’t matter at all.

To some degree it does matter in that it begins the winnowing process of those that will continue and those that step aside.

If it didn’t matter then why does the lower tier candidates show up and spend money out of their small budgets to buy votes in order to make a showing.

Some just can afford to buy more votes than the others... Sad to say but money is a major item within our electoral process today.

You really are dense, aren’t you?
First of all, Reagan didn’t “lose” in Iowa. He didn’t lose the way Duncan Hunter lost. Reagan still placed respectably.

But more importantly, Reagan didn’t need Iowa. He was already strong all around. He was the front runner. Iowa is for the no-names to get a one-time shot to step out of the shadows. This time, it was Mike Huckabee who got the ticket out of Iowa. The rest of the pygmies lost. For the front runners, it was just an optional beuty pagent. Front runners don’t live and die in Iowa they way the no-name candidates do.

The one thing that has never happened was the candidate who came in dead last in the Iowa straw poll going on to win the nomination. That would be Duncan Hunter. This is the time when guys like him get sifted out of the race.

The reason why it matters is because donors are watching. People who are giving out lots of money are usually pretty careful with that money. They’re not going to throw it away on a proven loser who’s already running at 1% in the polls. No money, no campaign. Hence the candidate dropping out.

Someone like Robertson or Huckabee winning means his supporters are energized, and he gets an influx of cash that allows him to continue competing with the front runners a while longer.

Ras & Calpernia stay home?

You’ve been sniffing off BJ’s table tops?

You might as well say I’d stay home. And I drug my sorry butt in my walker and stood in line for too long to do it.

You’ve just demonstrated how little you know about the Conservative philosophy and your fellow conservatives.

You are absolutely wrong about ME, I can’t speak for anyone else. I will not sit home on election day, and have never done so. Don’t blame the last election on ME. I will hold my nose and vote if I have to, but right now is the time to work as hard as I can to see that I don’t have to. I am sick of being given inferior choices by the “people behind the scenes”, who seem to choose who the next candidate will be before the last one has time to put his feet up on the desk in the Oval Office. As for the next candidate, I want with all my heart for it to be Duncan Hunter. And just because we raised alarm bells does not mean something is not wrong. It is. It will be a hard fight, but it will be worth it. And I will not believe Hunter is dropping out until I hear if from his own mouth.

Because the psychology of people like you fascinates me. You are impervious to reality.

Which RINO candidate are you a shill for sir/ma’am?
The more important question is: whom will you support when Hunter inevitably drops out in the coming days or weeks?

Will you continue throwing your salt, sabotaging, dividing, calling everyone else "RINOs"?
Will you go third party?

This is the problem with you Hunterite/Keyesian sore losers, and that's why I'm here to expose you.

If religiously backed candidates do better in straw polls and yet don’t get the nomination, it really is bogus and the donors can figure that out. You are making too much of a straw poll and are arguing yourself into an even more extreme position. The straw poll is what it is, money can buy it, and religious backers can help in it; if candidates main strengths are elsewhere they will not do as well (see Guilianni, Thompson, McCain bowing out). With the money/religious backer analysis, the results should have been Romney, Huckabee, Brownback. The results were Romney, Huckabee, Brownback (mormon + money, Baptist preacher, vocal Catholic) . . .

That Hunter can’t even buy enough votes to out pace Giuliani who wasn’t there and didn’t have an organization operating in the event says a lot. The fact that a few people showed up and voted for Giuliani or the non candidate Thompson on their own without having their votes paid for by a campaign says something to me of Hunters standing among the voters at large. Heck 200 votes at $35 each would only cost $7,500 and apparently he couldn’t find that many voters.

Hunter needs to establish himself on the national level and then return and I suspect he’d do well.. jmo. This can be the launching pad for developing that national recognition should he choose to use it that way.

“174 votes. Hunter is done.”

NOPE. McCain is done; he got less votes than Hunter.

btw, you DO realize that a mere straw poll isn’t the national election, do you not?

P.S. It’s not even a PRIMARY. Hope that helps.

I just call ‘em as I see ‘em.
Every election we have them, they’ve even got a name - the “unappeasables.” And every election they threaten to stay home, and this cycle they seem to have coalesced around Duncan Hunter. I’d be thrilled to be proven wrong. Unfortunately, it’s all so predictable you can set your watch by it.

They say we might as well elect [Gore], [Hillary], [Cruz Bustamante], [fill_in_the_blank] because these “RINOs” like [Poppy Bush], [Dubya], [Rudy], [Fred], [Arnold], are no better, and they’re not going to “hold their nose” and vote for anyone but [Robertson], [Keyes], [Duncan Hunter], [Tom McClintock]...

Seems Duncan was running a virtual campaign and not a REAL one. More than HALF of all the money he has raised has gone to ONE FIRM.

InfoCision Management Corporation
325 Springside Drive
Akron, Ohio 44333

Nearly HALF a MILLION DOLLARS !!

$50,000 and $100,000 here and there.

And it all say for “Telemarketing”.

GOD !!

What an awful and horrid campaign idea !!

Again, (sigh) does no one read my posts?

Hunter didn’t campaign in Iowa until the last minute, because he was busy protecting our collective butts on Iraq issues.

Hunter HAS won or came in the top 3 over Romney in past straw polls, even when Romney outspent him 2 or 3 to 1, because for those polls Hunter had more time to campaign.

why don’t you go out and raise a few million dollars for Hunter? ------Or at least stop attacking the candidates who are still viable and realize one of them is going to be the nominee.

I knew you had an agenda Mr. Undecided, it's just hidden beneath the hubris and ignorance. Who is attacking candidates that are still viable? Do you have proof of that or is that more of your rhodomontade and hyperbole? I don't know anything about Alan Keyes and never thought enough of any primary candidate to care. I just voted for the Republican, the one I thought would screw the country up less. Duncan Hunter is a candidate in this primary. Yes, finally, a candidate in the Republican Primary worth supporting. I will support, who I please, if I please, when I please and afford you the right to do the same. You certainly are derisive and chesty for an undecided. I am not sabotaging anything. So, if you don't want to buy a vacuum cleaner or join the Duncan Hunter Eureka Upright Fantasy Cult --- I will bid you, good day.
