T'wit, FReeper extraordinaire, has died.
self | August 5, 2007 | 8mmMauser

Posted on 08/05/2007 3:55:55 AM PDT by 8mmMauser

A great FReeper and close friend passed. T’wit, also known as Timothy Wheeler passed on. In tribute, I would like to make this the August thread of Terri Dailies, the topic foremost in T’wit thoughts.

Tim was a man of great faith, a faith that grew stronger especially in recent months. As I type this, I still am not yet coherent, as I try to awaken and sip a good coffee brought to me recently by Tim. In his usual fashion, he probably figured I would appreciate a little care package and would appreciate the better quality than the usual fare we would fix.

But I do not want this thread to be maudlin, nor a reminiscing on anecdotes, rather a stab at what Tim would want.

T’wit was passionate about the beauty of nature, of good books, good music, and intellectual challenge, but mostly he was passionate about his love for our America, for Jim Robinson’s FreeRepublic, and for our fight for those in the plight of Terri Schiavo. For the latter, he sought justice and fervently hoped and prayed we on Terri’s List would carry on this battle against the evils of those who would control who lived and died.

In our many talks, he would sound like a poster boy for all the stated position of Jim Robinson.

His wife told me last evening the final thoughts he had. As can be expected, it was for us to continue our fight as we have done already. She hoped that rather than flowers or donations sent, that donations be directed at causes like that supporting Terri’s Legacy, the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation. In this way, we remember him and further his wishes. T’wit and I talked a lot about faith and I can reassure all, his faith in Our Lord was strong and growing stronger, a comfort to me that he carried it to the end.

My words come out with difficulty this morning, but should flow better later, although without the word play and banter we would sometimes engage, at least for now. T’wit would be upset if I quit the puns for long, though.

We will continue our prayers for T'wit and his wife and family.

"Tim seldom bylined, seldom spoke in public."

Sure he did. Right here on FreeRepublic. He spoke up for Terri Schiavo who was murdered by our courts. National Review still doesn't get it.

I had no idea.

I only knew I really liked T'wit. So did most.

I found his history awesome.

What a good, good man.

I think it might be meant that he did not make public speeches and lectures as most of the big wheels do. He would shy away from a microphone. So would I.

If Tim were to be out in front like his peers, he, too, would have been very well known I am convinced, but he preferred to be just below the surface, I like to think. We were alike in that respect.

Yes, Tim’s words reached a whole lot of the public!

I think T'wit would find it fitting if we closed out the month of his tribute with a story, not of him, but of one caught in the dilemma of Terri. T'wit and I agreed that the subject of Terri's Legacy was profound beyond what happened to Terri, but how her suffering was manifest and shared in other cases, some well known, and some simply obscure.

In this case it is the happy outcome of Scott Thomas. The news is about his wheelchair. To many, nay, most of us, such matters are trivial as we are mostly in fine health, in want for little and find it difficult to focus on something of this nature. To someone who needs these things, to somebody like Scott, to his family, this is wonderful news. May the good news of Scott keep pouring in.

FINALLY ...After fighting for two and 1/2 years for a wheelchair, Scott finally gets his own !

His chair rotates like the last one did , so he is not in the same position for hours.  This chair also enables him to lie out completely flat.  The head gear is essentially the same as the last one as well.  Two head braces if needed for travel.  It has been made to fit his body measurements and it is WONDERFUL !    Scott picked out the color ` Candy Blue ' ~ He  loves it  !!

 042.jpg

What a difference this chair makes in his daily living.  We are so blessed !

...........................................

Some visitors may wonder about the story behind Scott's situation.

Here is a little summary of that and it is but a preface to the horror faced by this fine family. Read more at the link.

....................................

When I answered the phone on the afternoon of Sept. 5th, 2004, I had no idea what I was in for; that phone call changed my life forever. My son Scott was seriously hurt and being transported to the ER. I left my home immediately to join him at the hospital. While en route, when I had almost arrived, I drove up along side my son's wife, who was also headed to the ER - I waved to her to let her know that I would be there with her. The look she gave me was very unsettling - in fact it was eerie. She gave me a very cold stare – as if to say, “What are you doing here?”

Her silence toward me in the ER waiting room only gave me more concern.  From then on nothing but bizarre and unnatural behavior has been displayed by my daughter-in law, Liza.  Let me tell you the story.

Immediately after Scott’s injury, while he was still in ICU, I wanted to see my newborn grandson (Scott’s first baby) and see if there was anything I could do for my daughter in law. Even though the uneasy feelings were growing inside me, and the unanswered questions were mounting, the baby was still my grandson, and she was still my son’s wife. After 3 days she finally returned my phone calls and told me when she would be home. I arrived at the house before she arrived, and waited in the car. When she arrived, Logan (my grandson) was asleep in the carrier. She set him inside the door on the floor and told me he just went to sleep. Again, she was very cold to me.

And then I saw something that upset me more than I can tell you: Every single picture of my son had been removed. My son was still in ICU, fighting for his life, and his wife…who was acting very strange…had taken down every picture of him from the walls and the ledges where they had always been. As you can imagine, a terrible sick feeling came over me. Why had she done this? Again, it was clear that Liza did not want to talk to me. I left without seeing my grandson awake, and I had a sick feeling that will always be with me.

The story gets worse. Within a matter of days, she was having a man spend the night with her at the house. She is dating another man now as well. In mid-November, when I was visiting Scott, two of the hospital staff took me aside and warned me: “Liza has called Hospice. They have agreed to take him. If you do not get immediate custody of Scott, he will be dead within 7 to 10 days.”

Worth repeating that Scott Thomas was going to be bumped off until Terri's Fight and their extended supporters put the spotlight on his FLORIDA dilemma with the wife who said SCOTT TRIPPED OVER THEIR DOG. (more like his head met up with a frying pan, wasn't it?)

Scott's doing well and we pray that Haleigh is doing better up in Massachusetts.

UNRELATED: Larry Craig was framed because he's a conservative republican. Was Larry Craig for shamnesty or against it? I think he was framed by the GOP.

Craig was strongly for amnesty. While I opposed him, there are questions about this case such as the timing - right as info emerged about yet another Clinton scandal - and thus naturally the media buries the Clinton story. Also, the tapes sounded to me like it was an ambiguous case. Aren’t some of the same people who shouted “it’s just about sex” when Clinton & the intern’s affair broke and who have marched in “gay pride” parades those most “shocked” by Craig?

Yeah, the Craig case seemed ambiguous to me. It is the appearance of inpropriety cuz he didn't actually engage in lewd behavior. So, now we can get arrested if someone things we are "sending signals"?

This country is really becoming a police state where mind readers or rushers to judgment can cuff you.

By the way, google: Nancy Grant. Florida's LE are trying to jail her for life. She is going to trial. She is a whistleblower against guess what? corrupt Florida judges and LE. She needs help.

Yeah, some people have got it made. Michael Schiavo wouldn't let his wife have one.

In his book, Terri: The Truth, Michael said he and his attorneys sat around eating pizza watching Terri the night before she died, who was laboring for breath.

Here is something to watch, from Michelle Malkin's Hot Air blog today.

..................................

Update: His likely successor as nominee is Rep. Tom Davis, whom the left has already started a file on. Note the Walter Reed and Schiavo items, in particular.

Update: On the other hand, re: Mark Warner, he did unexpectedly drop out of the presidential race last year when everyone thought for sure he’d be running, allegedly to spend more time with his kids but reportedly because he’s got a skeleton in his closet that would have sunk him if he’d run. Radar had a theory about it at the time. If it’s true, it might not keep him out of the Senate. Sexual indiscretion isn’t a real strong weapon for the GOP these days.

Update: It gets worse:

On the Republican side, Rep. Thomas M. Davis III (Va.) has long coveted Warner’s seat and has worked assiduously to position himself for a run. A moderate, Davis would probably have serious competition from conservatives, possibly from former governor James S. Gilmore III.

A Davis candidacy would have a domino effect in Fairfax County. Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly (D), who has refused to commit to finishing his term if reelected in November, has made no secret of his interest in succeeding Davis in the 11th District, where Democrats are gaining strength. Former representative Leslie Byrne has been mentioned as another possible contender.

Update: In yet more good news, it seems Davis is even more of a “maverick” than John Warner is.

Update: Davis wastes no time.

Breaking: John Warner won’t run for re-election; Update: Davis to run to succeed Warner, says CNN

The far left, commies and leftist dems just can't help themselves. Here the World Socialists invoke Terri once again.

When it comes to "Love thine enemies," shucks, they love them for us.

The Thomas More Law Center, a national “Christian public interest law firm,” known for its harassment suits against Planned Parenthood and its intervention in the Terry Schiavo case, announced it will represent continuing opposition to the school.

Otter may be a rare species in Idaho, but not yet on the endangered list.

That wasn’t the only time the congressman’s libertarian streak disappeared. Otter also voted for the 2005 House bill intervening in the Terri Schiavo case, overruling Florida courts to keep a brain-damaged woman on life support. He has voted for all the Republican iterations of immigration reform, even when they criminalized Good Samaritans who aid illegals. (“We need to get the border under control,” Otter says, “and then we can decide what to do about the people who are already here.”) He has voted for several versions of campaign finance limits.

Butch Otter Rides Again Idaho' next governor demonstrates the possibilities--and limits--of libertarian politics in the Republican Party.
