Washington - Local police outside Charleston, South Carolina stopped a vehicle in which they found what were suspected to be explosives, according to media reports late Saturday.
Two men described as being of possibly Middle Eastern origin were in the vehicle, which was stopped on a highway.
A police bomb squad was at the scene and preparing to examine the vehicle, a local television reported told the Cable News Network (CNN).
Have you heard from your son? I hope and pray everything is okay...If I have you mixed up with someone else please forgive me.
A news chick said in a video report now says it was a “small zip lock bag” and dropped all reference to the ME identity of the suspects.
The text of the story right next to the video report still had the ME reference.
You can actually smell the oder of spin in the air.
aw....I hate that!
: )
thanks for the link.
“...local law enforcement dont give a squat about the ACLU.”
Confirmed. That’s one reason why I moved from Oregon to Charleston. Better reasoning skills, better food, better looking skirts!
Six month vacation in Gitmo.
“What ME bomber guys? We don’t know where they went. Sorry.”
Which one was named Mohammed?
fyi ping to video...post #82 it’s ~ 2+ minutes.
“The buzz is that it’s Middle Eastern men” but the police aren’t confirming anything about who they’ve detained.
Possible bomb scare shuts down Goose Creek highway

Sunday, August 5, 2007
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said there was “no immediate threat” after a portion of St. James Avenue, U.S. Highway 176, in Goose Creek was shut down for hours Saturday evening.
Authorities shut down the road near the Devon Pointe Apartments about 7 p.m. after a traffic stop, and it was still closed as of press time.
By 11:20 p.m., there were more than a dozen police cars, fire trucks, and an ambulance surrounding a gray sedan. A bomb squad robot was looking into the trunk of the car, and the passenger’s door was open. The Red Cross had also arrived on the scene.
At 11:45 p.m., Julie Johnson, assistant special agent-in-charge, FBI-Columbia, told reporters amassed at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses that she would answer no questions, but that the FBI was still trying to determine if a crime had been committed.
She said the agency was working with state and local agencies, and that they were going to be there a long time.
An eyewitness, Jack Knuoff, said he saw police make a traffic stop where three police officers were talking with one man who might have been of Middle Eastern descent around 6 p.m.
Knuoff, who was sitting at the scene in a lawn chair, said he didn’t think the stop was important, and went home, but returned after his brother called to say more police had been called to the scene.
Look - and remember Ft. Huachuca.
Thanks for asking. Yes, they are okay.
He was a very disturbed “Caucasian” kid from Colorado (I believe). He did make it in to the stadium and then left.

Uh..... do vans have trunks?
I'll be anxiously monitoring PBS, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC etc., and my local newspapers for details about this story in the next 24 hours.
NOT!
And Charleston, just a few miles to the southeast, is a major commercial shipping port -- IIRC the 3rd largest in this country. We saw acres and acres of shipping containers in Charleston's harbor area.
Went through Goose Creek on Amtrak a couple of years ago. (I wouldn't recommend traveling to Charleston on Amtrak, it was hellish. Charleston is wonderful though.)
Goose Creek is a short distance from I-95, connecting Florida to Washington DC and the northeast US.
LOL, I was wandering when someone would point that out.
