I'm going to go against the common thread here and predict no terror link, for real. I'm betting some wacky "adventurer/thrill seeker" types, or maybe science nerds on a bender.Nope sorry, it's terrorist related. Has to be. The government has us all on 'interest watch'. What this amounts to is that if anything is doing anything even remotely out of the ordinary, interesting, etc. by default they must be 'terrorists' and reported to the 'proper authorities'. Invention? New ideas? Without alerting the government?!? Are you mad?
I imagine even when it's proven not to be terrorist related beyond all shadow of a doubt (which it isn't), instead of expressing interest at the ingenuity of these three submariners, some will still call for them to be charged with a trumped up charge.
So much for freedom, we'd rather be safe....

Could be drug related. But until their identities and motives have been established, terrorism must remain very much on the table.

Funny , I was JUST out on the Hudson River yesterday on the Circle Line tour around the island. ( an amazing 3 hour tour if anyone ever comes to NYC, lots of history and some pretty scenery on the north end of the island)
We’ll have to wait on this one. I’m always suspicious when they don’t mention names. If they are Islamics they will call them Asians anyway , not to upset anyone.

Does NYC have the same regulations as Hampton Roads on the distance that must be maintained by boaters away from Navy and Cruise ships?
Es big time trouble to get too close to ze ships or ze docks...

30 Minutes after TWA Flight 800 went down, "spokesmen" were claiming that the downing was not terror related -- long before any investigation.
Every one of these incidents were described as
'not terror related' also.

I'd agree with you if they had released the names. The fact that didn't makes me believe their last name will not be Smith or Jones

Probably a bunch of radical Presbyterians who mistakenly thought the ship was named for Bloody Mary.
