Republican presidential hopeful John McCain on Thursday backed a scaled-down proposal that imposes strict rules to end illegal immigration but doesn't include a path to citizenship. Never trust a back stabber!

To be successful in politics and comedy, timing is everything. McCain will never be President and he never was funny.

This Just In: Having his last hopes of becoming President dashed McCain desperately reverses course in an attempt to retain his Senatorial position among his state constituents.
Developing: Word of mouth about his failures - among Arizonians and those who've been pushing him down this path - will find his remaining support drying up faster than Nancy Pelosi's...
err', best not to say that.

One thing's for sure....
THESE guys are NOT happy campers!

(Visit this thread 1-hour from now. In that time-an average of 416.6 more ILLEGALS will be in the USA)

The Spanish language media in the USA is running like crazy with this story. The headline just a few minutes ago, "McCain Takes 180 Degree Turn and Opposes Immigrants, Joing the Conservatives". That's what it said, I kid you not.
At least, the more this hits the hispanic and other illegal alien readership-oriented press (Chinese, Korean, etc) the more incentive will grow for people to get the hell out of our country and back where they came from.

McCain said in a statement, adding that the new bill would "provide an essential step toward achieving comprehensive reform in the future."
In other words,
"provide an essential step toward achieving amnesty in the future."
He still wants amnesty. If he gets the nomination, I get to play maverick Republican and not vote for President.

I don’t believe politicians like McCain. Don’t care what he says anymore. He’s not going to be around too much longer, politically or otherwise. He’s old and jsut trying to salvage something so that his last memory isn’t being for illegal immigrants or McCain-Feingold.
Guy makes me sick.

Well color me completely surprised. I wonder if he has finally come to his senses or if this is just more pandering. This sounds suspiciously like the Specter bill...
Among other things, the bill makes being in the country illegally a criminal misdemeanor and toughens penalties for re-entering after being deported. Being in the country illegally is already a misdemeanor.
The Specter bill has no provision for a "Z" visa and, thus, it is said, would deny all illegals a path to citizenship.
However, it would also legalize their presence in the country, without penalty...
Sounds like "amnesty" to me...
McCain is agreeing to support the same pig -- different lipstick.

Thanks for the ping.
I don’t trust anything John McCain, Lindsey Graham or John Kyl says regarding illegal immigration. They are flip flopping on the issue. What an arrogant bunch of Senators!

They considered McCain property bought forever. Further proof that we’re in an undeclared and purposely hidden war with Mexico being waged on levels most Americans would never believe. Mexico has weaseled its way through our State Department, crippled Homeland Security and has corrupted countless border authorities via the muscle and money their drug and human smuggling cartels exert. Mexico’s influence is behind the attempt to cripple the Border Patrol via Ramos and Compean’s kangaroo trial.
Chickens are coming home to roost and more than a pound of flesh will be extracted for corruption, betrayal and dishonor.
To: Tarantulas
Too little, too late.
As though we'd forgive him for McCain-Feingold, either...
Kiss your political buns goodbye, Senator.
Cheers!
