I don't know about you guys, but I'm voting for "None of the above"
WND sinks lower and lower every day. Very sad.
Romney was talking about the Hearts and Minds type of diplomacy. You can debate the merits of that approach but this article from World Nut Daily was the sort of hit job we see from the liberal media.
Who could have imagined?
>>In remarks caught on camera by C-SPAN, Romney stated, “Did you notice in Lebanon what Hezbollah did? Lebanon became a democracy some time ago, and while their government was getting under way, Hezbollah went into southern Lebanon and provided health clinics to some of the people there, and schools.
“And they (Hezbollah) built their support there by having done so. That kind of diplomacy is something that would help America become stronger around the world and help people understand that our interest is an interest towards modernity and goodness and freedom for all people in the world. And so, I want to see America carry out that kind of health diplomacy.”<<
HERE’S “THAT KIND OF DIPLOMACY” YOU MORON:
Sections of the III Reich social welfare network, including schools and camps, are routinely used by the Party Members to indoctrinate students in anti-Joo propaganda, instruct in military tactics and promote National Socialist beliefs, including the waging of a final, apocalyptic world battle against “Bolsheviks.” OK I just replaced a couple of words, but its what it sounds like.
As a PoliSci major, I learned that the Welfare State (Wohlfahrtsstaat) is a sub-type of the Police State (Polizeistaat). Using government to buy support of the mob is not a new idea, it goes back at least as far as Rome, it was called Caesarism. It’s not a model that has staying power and the US has been terrible at buying support. We’re then not willing to allow our guys to use the brutality necessary to stay in power, see South Vietnam and the Shah.
kind of an ultimate “Jump The Shark” moment, eh?
Mitt “foot in the mouth” Romney ping
He was talking about infrastructure, schools and hospitals, sillies.
The sychopants following Mitts opponents are licking drool in overtime with this article.
I understand Mitt's point. Hezbolla endeared themselves to Lebanon's people, by giving them humanitarian aid like schools and health care, just as the U.S. soldiers in Iraq have endeared themselves to many Iraqi's by rebuilding their infrastructure, schools and by giving them medical care and other kinds of help. Romney sees this kind of effort, as a way to build and establish good relations with such countries.
Mitt is obviously NOT referring to the indoctrination programs implemented by Hezbolla along with their humanitarian aid, as this twisted article would lead people to believe.
The United States is already extending humanitarian aid all over the world. Many people feel our government has OVEREXTENDED itself, in this regard on the taxpayers dime, (I am one of them) and won't support more such measures.
This is NOT a cornerstone of any of Romney's policy proposals, and hardly disqualifies him from the presidency. Too many conservatives are far too quick to point the finger and pile on.
Who would have thought it?
Misleading headline.
