That was 1967. The Silver Bridge collapse was traced to a steel pin that fractured (although some think “The Mothman” had something to do with it). That type of bridge construction ceased immediately. This bridge is of a frame type, and fairly old. We probably did not inspect it thoroughly and regularly, so, unfortunately, did not consider the recent work to present any danger. As of today, all bridges of this type and built at the general time will undergo detailed examination, and our pocketbooks will be tagged for repairs.

Fox has a forensic engineering specialist on now who is saying that the bridge collapse does *not* look consistent with sabotage/terrorism, but is entirely consistent with simple structural collapse.
There were actually workers on the bridge at the time. They are unaccounted for.
Fox reporting that MNFD is saying that SAR is over, they believe that all those still living and in need of aid have been rescued.
