Just turned on the news. 35W bridge collapsed in the Mississippi River. Cars, trucks, semis.....
Fires burning, tanker trucks, at least one school bus, more than ten cars......
Just now breaking.......
Glad you are safe.
Oh Jeez.
Prayers up!
Man, I’m getting tired of seeing this one. It’s way old news, over 2 years, posted on worldnet dail in July 2005 and suddenly it’s making the rounds again.

Look at the date posted. It was never substantiated back then either, and Snopes is looking in to it to find out were it came from. Obviously, it was wrong then.
This is a tragic structural failure, no evil mooslims hiding in the bushes.. jeez...
We had a friend on the bridge who went to Eckerd. He was flagged down by a guy, but if I remember right, it was raining really hard, and he was hesitant to stop, but did and he wasn’t far from the drop off.
Drama Queen = unprofessional. As sad as it is to say, I miss the calming voice of even Dan Rather*** in times like this. The most hysterical guy in the room shouldn’t be in front of the camera.
*** DISCLAIMER - this is in no way an endorsement of Rather, so please...no need to flame.
Thank you.
I crossed that bridge about a week ago. Lived near there when I was a student at the U. I know the area well.
This is a huge freakin’ mess.
Oh, o.k. then. Nothing makes me more secure than knowing Homeland Security has given us the green light for carrying on...;)
yeah just got a call from them. cell towers are jammed right now i guess.
Basically driving big steal beams or stakes into the ground to provide support for the structure
Is Shep Smith gay?
Also, all cell phones are inoperative in the area.
A questions for the Civil Engineers & Designers out there. Is it possible that the combination of rush hour traffic (bumper to bumper maximizing the number of vehicles), lanes being closed (maximize the load to one side), years of potential neglect and the vibration of a passing freight train caused overstressing of a "weak point" that caused a cascading effect of popped rivets, etc. that would have led to catastrophic failure?
Terrorist will take any opportunity to kill, causing fear and damage.
This bridge with construction going on would've been relatively easy terrorist target.
Homeland Sec Office said: "It appears to be not terror related incident".
I think this statement at that early stage of the game is premature and irresponsible.
I believe they are going to cover it up even if there is a terrorist link to it.
Amen, rimtop.
I’m good. I wonder about some of my co-workers though.
I’m sure they’re fine. I’ll know more tomorrow.
My girlfriend called me up and asked if I was OK. I told her I was fine.
I know this area well, having attended the University of Minnesota. I’m simply heartsick as I see the pictures. Prayers for all.
The lighting and thunder has begun here. Heavy rain to follow, unfortunately.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “She said one 911 caller said she could see the construction workers using a jackhammers when the bridge collapsed close to her car. “She saw it and she said she just gunned it and just made it out of there,” Brown said.”
