People responded to your initial comment because you showed your ignorance by claming that those interested in Harry Potter could not also be interested in politics. Clearly, you spoke from a lack of knowledge.

I guess your right. I must be ignorant and lacking knowledge of all the brilliant intellectuals who read Harry Potter books. Are you by the way a country club republican?

Let's review your original statement in Post #2.

One thing I have noticed about the Harry Potter stuff. People who are tuned into and follow politics don’t read or watch the garbage.

I don't give a rat's clymer if you like or read the books or not. But that statement was, particularly in light of the countless (and often endless) Harry Potter threads on FReeRepublic fercryinoutloud, an ignorant statement.

Do yourself a favor and don't make yourself look any worse.

That's so random I can't figure out what you mean. Corin was right - people slammed you because your post claimed that people interested in Harry Potter could not also be interested in politics. That's just wrong (and pretty bizarre). So are you now also saying people interested in Harry Potter can't be "true" Republicans? If so, you're showing more ignorance.

How weird! Honestly, do you think we'd be sitting in the living room at the computer, surrounded by little boys yelling "WitterwitterwitterwitterWITTER! I'M A WITTER SANDWICH!" if we had the choice of being at the country club?

Homeschooled radical right-wing Christian nut-job pro-life pro-gun Midwestern conservative Harry Potter fan here.

And Corin at a country club - *snerk* - yeah, I can see that.

ROTFL! Oh yeah, jetson's got YOUR number, honey!

Jetson, you really need to quit while you're ahead. I know a lot of folks who have read the Harry Potter books; some more than once. They are also very well read in many other subjects including history, science, politics, the Classics, and just plain old interesting fiction including mysteries, sci-fi, fantasy, techo-thrillers and bodice rippers.

What's a country club Republican? I'm on my county GOP executive committee, I am the chair of the voter id/gotv subcommittee, I'm a precinct chair, a delegate to the state convention, and right now I am actively working on behalf several local candidates (sorry, no big races this year). I lobby for local and state pro-life orgs, the NRA and MCRGO. I've never belonged to a coutnry club, but do tell me...am I a country club Republican?

Oh, yes...I am also an ardent reader of the HP series. Anyone who thinks that the books are just "dumb stuff about magic" is obviously someone who has never read 'em, not a single one. I always find it interesting when someone who has never read a book--any book--feels as though they know enough about said tome to not only comment on it, but to comment on it at length. I see it as a mark of ignorance.

For someone directing the rest of us to put our energies toward what you feel are "better uses," you sure are spending an awful lot of time on a subject of which you have no interest. Kinda stupid, dontcha think?
