I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.
Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.
We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.

I tried to see what BOR was holding up- I have never seen anything on the thread that said I hate blacks either- what the heck.

Kristinn, you did a good job. I don’t think O’reilly was all that harsh. It is obvious that he doesn’t read FR but he is absolutely on a crusade against Daily Kos.

I wonder how much O’Reilly really hangs around FR. I would guess not often, after witnessing the hit job he did on FR.
After his recent attack on the Daily Kos, he HAD to find fault with something, but why pick on FR? There are right wing hate sites, but FR is not one of them.
I got a time out once for promoting violence here. The thing was that I was talking about a video game nand the moderator apparently didn’t catch it. No harm no foul and I’m even more aware of what I say.
I’d have to say that we FReepers do a more than adequate job of policing ourselves.

I am watching you as we speak. Bill is being very unfair to you by even mentioning FR in the same breath as daily kos. Frauds come here to FR everyday to plant “hate statements” just to try and make us look bad. Bill doesnt understand how difficult it is to policy these posts in real time. I beleive that the posts that he is referring to is a complete setup. Keep up the good work Kristinn.

Kristinn, you did very well, but I wish O’R would have produced the offending posts rather than just claim he saw them. In all the years I’ve been on FR (since 1998), I’ve only seen a couple of posts like the ones he used as examples, and they were removed almost immediately. I think he made it up.
I only saw the end, but he held up a page he suggested was hate speech. Did he read from it during the segment, and if so, what was it about?
