Gun Sales Spike

You may think you’re safe.

But the 3 a.m. home invasion in Cheshire that left a mother and her two daughters dead may now have you thinking about ways to protect yourself and your family.

And according to Connecticut gun dealers and home security system companies, you are not alone. This has been an an extremely busy week for them.

The Blue Trail Range and Gun Shop in Wallingford, one of the firearms sales and training facilities closest to Cheshire, took a month’s worth of calls in less than a week.

"I take those calls — and I have definitely gotten more calls in the last two days, inquiring about hangun safety and permitting classes, than I would normally take in about a month," said Blue Trail secretary Amanda May. "I’ve taken about 20 calls this week. Normally, I would get about 20-30 calls in a month."

Among the callers, "Some of them are saying that this is specifically the reason why," May said. "Others are saying, ‘Well, I live in Cheshire."

Based on what gun and security system dealers elsewhere had to say, that wasn’t just a local phenomenom.

"It definitely motivated a lot of people," said Frank Guerra, owner of K-5 Firearms Exchange on Route 1 in Milford. "I mean, someone could just walk into your house ... and you’d be subject to having nothing to protect yourselves."

Guerra said he has seen an increase in enrollment for National Rifle Association pistol certification classes, which prospective handgun owners must take before applying for a gun permit, and sales of shotguns, which don’t require a permit.

"We have more people signing up," he said, "people actually saying that because of the incident that happened, they don’t feel...

Even though my dad is Republican, I wish he was pro-gun. I’d probably already have a 20 gauge shotgun.

This is a good time to click on the bump below to get the great offer (good for only a few days more) for JPFO's 2 great DVDS--Innocents Betrayed and The Gang for the price of one, $29.95. These are a must-see for every American, particularly gun owners.

Long live the Blue Trail Range! My first visit was more than four decades ago. The first guns that I fired were a M1 Carbine and a 30-06 Springfield there.

One of my best friend’s brother became a Second Amendment devotee while he was in the Navy during the Korean War. He got those rifles at ridiculously cheap prices from the gov’t as surplus. IIRC, he paid $30 for the Carbine and $15 for the Springfield. This was in 1965 - 66.

Has anyone investigated the “half-way house” these monsters came from? How was it that their scummy residents were prowling the streets at 3:00AM, preying on this family? Shouldn’t someone be held responsible for their lack of supervision?

The police cannot protect. The courts cannot protect. The parole system is under pressure to depopulate the prisons and have no responsibility their for the Visigoths they set free. So the individual bares the the last line of defense.

I would hope the new gun owners would take one more step and take the steps to be sure they can use their new weapons effectively and learn their legal rights if they have to use one effectively.

MAYBE THIS IS WHY...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,290596,00.html

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: In the "Unresolved Problem" segment tonight, the city of New Haven, Connecticut is very lenient as far as illegal immigrants are concerned. Tomorrow, the city will issue ID cards to illegal aliens that will allow them a library card, a beach pass, a golf course discount, and other city perks.

Joining us now from Raleigh, North Carolina, William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration. New Haven city officials would not cooperate with "The Factor." That is historical.

Now the mayor there, John Destefano, has made it very, very clear that he, his city, New Haven is a haven for illegal immigrants. It's a sanctuary city. He wants to give all the illegal aliens, you know, citizenship. This is who he is. And amazingly, I think it was 25 to 1, the city council of New Haven voted to give these cards out. They're not free. They cost $10 for adults, $5 for children. So, what's your reaction to this?

I have heard reputable sources say the best dogs for home defense are the smaller breeds with very acute hearing, that sleep lightly, and bark like crazy when they hear something anomalous. It gives you those first few crucial seconds to reach for your gun.

YGTBSM! That's got to be the most stupid thing I've ever heard Only a hippie could be reassured by the ching-ding of wind chimes. And what if it is a calm night? Dead hippie, I guess.

The best guard dog I've ever seen was a cross between a German shepherd and a wolf. Most of the time he was the gentlest dog you'll ever come across, and he'd even let a stranger break into the business the dog was guarding.

But if the perp ever tried to LEAVE after breaking in, the dog would tear him a new @sshole. Several new @ssholes, in fact.

I agree, based on personal experience.

I've owned two pretty good-sized dogs who'd sleep through a nuclear holocaust. My neighbor across the street owns a little ankle-biter who barks like crazy when a leaf rustles.

Liberals’ worst nightmare. This is why they have stopped covering this murder.
Private ownership of legal firearms is what keeps this country from becoming a dictatorship. Liberals want to take our guns away so that they can make it a dictatorship. Invaders from the middle east would have already taken over if we didn’t have our own guns.

Buy ATK, RGR...the Smith and wesson ride was fantastic. ATK looks like the perrennial winner. They make Federal ammunition as well as giant huge bombs that liquidate our enemies.,

AT_ no more than 3 % of your portfolio in any one stock.

RGR

My sister-in-law works for the city very close to DeStefano. She said he started this out thinking it was a way to get illegals to report crimes. It seems that they were getting robbed left and right at the Western Unions and check cashing places. He consulted with the police dept. and they came to the conclusion that the cards would help them be safe.

As DeStefano revealed his plan to local officials and interest groups they latched onto it and it spiraled out of control. He got caught up in the enthusiasm and decided it would help him with name recognition at the state level since he was running for governor.

She also said the woman in the city office that has been put in charge of accepting and processing these applications is vehemently against it. She has been receiving death threats and cries at work.

DeStefano is one of the worst kinds of politicians. He is forcing someone else to accept the animus of his actions.

I would like to buy a gun. My wife is against it. She knows about this attack in Cheshire. Perhaps this might sway her.
