Did I hear that the Today show recommended wind chimes to scare away home invaders?Wind chimes cause ear cancer.
I'm sure I heard that somewhere on a liberal talk show. ; )

Oh no. He sounds like he’s one of those scary country club Republican types. When you get older you can at least do what you want.

Dear God, is this what happened? Please say it isn’t so.

I would like to buy a gun. My wife is against it. She knows about this attack in Cheshire. Perhaps this might sway her.My wife wasn't favorably disposed when I purchased my first 1911 45Auto in 1999. We took it from the store to the indoor range. My wife checked it out. Too much for her small hands. She returned to the counter and rented a Ruger MKII .22LR pistol. Happiness. We returned to the gun shop in El Cajon and ordered a Ruger MKII .22LR with a 5 1/2" bull barrel for her. Some years later she has filled out 4473s for more handguns than I have. She has fired everything we own from 17M2 to 500 S&W. It's mostly a matter of familiarity and practice. A "break the ice" trip to rent some .22LR pistols for some weekend fun at the range can be make a difference. You can do a lot of "try before you buy" at a range with rentals. It's a good way to refine your preferences before investing in one to own. The S&W 686+ I purchased in 2000 for $437 is now retailing for $650. That's principally ann increase in raw materials.

Jack Russells are good little watchdogs. Mine barks at the slightest noise. She keeps me on my toes. I have an 85 pound Husky.
He's pretty quiet usually but he has performed admirably in protecting me, my .45, and my 12 gage.

He got those rifles at ridiculously cheap prices from the govt as surplus. IIRC, he paid $30 for the Carbine and $15 for the Springfield. This was in 1965 - 66. Adjusting for inflation (remember gold was $32/oz back then, versus 20 times that now) that was $300 for a used bolt-action rifle and $600 for a used low-power semi-auto rifle

OH wow! I was just looking at this thread! Yep! Two of the Rat Terriers, one Jack Russel, and one Doberman stay OUTSIDE at night. One EXTREMELY ALERT Rat Terrier stays inside at night. At night in our house, a mouse can't fart without her hearing it. ...and yes, she DOES catch and kill mice in the house!
If somebody can get through the dogs without waking us up, and then get past four of the five occupants each having their own E.B.R. and survive the ordeal, then more power to em. But it's gonna be one hell of a bloody mess either way.
We don't exactly have a victim mentality and won't spend a lot of time trying to analyze why somebody wants to hurt us. The rules in such an instance are, shoot twice center mass, evaluate, shoot again twice, evluate....reapply if necessary. You know the drill. :-)
Sweetie told me to tell you HI! :-) She walked past while I was posting. :-)

Question: Do you know the deference between Democrats and and Republicans?
Answer: Republicans speak to each other when they meet at the gun store.

You need to get her to go to a range with you. Once you break the ice, you'll have it made.
