Chief Justice John Roberts Suffered Seizure, Remains in Hospital
Monday, July 30, 2007
WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts suffered what is being described by doctors as a "benign idiopathic seizure" after falling Monday at his summer home in Maine.
He is staying in Penobscot Bay Medical Center overnight for observation, court officials told FOX News.

This could something as simple as tripping, or as serious as a cardiac arrthmyia.
The fact that no details have been released is of concern to me. I wonder if he’s had another seizure? Prayers for his health and recovery.
It seems he may have had a seizure:
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., a seasonal resident of Hupper Island, located off Port Clyde, was taken to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport mid-day Monday.
St. George Ambulance responded to a call at about 2 p.m. Monday of a man who had fallen 5 to 10 feet and landed on a dock, hitting the back of his head. The patient was ashen and was foaming at the mouth. The patient had reportedly suffered a grand mal seizure and was transported to Penobscot Bay Medical Center.
As of Monday afternoon, Penobscot Bay Medical Center would not confirm that Roberts was a patient.
Roberts and his wife, Jane Roberts, purchased their home on Hupper Island in June 2006. The island is located a few hundreds yards off Port Clyde and is only accessible by boat.
Roberts, 52, was appointed as chief justice by President George W. Bush and has served since Sept. 29, 2005.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
Yikes, I just read this thread. Very scary. Prayers for Chief Justice’s recovery.
Yikes, indeed! Prayers that he will be OK. Elections have consequences. Never, ever, ever give up the field just because some of your side’s leaders suck.
Oh no.
This is bad.
Damn.
I knew a conservative court could not last long.
thank God he is well. anyone gone to DU and see how they carry it there?
We are praying now for Chief Justice Roberts. FoxNews said it may have been a grand mal seizure. Whatever, he is a great Chief Justice and must remain so. As for Schumer ...
SPOKESMAN CONFIRMS.....HE SUFFERED A SEIZURE.
This is serious, and the conservative majority is in jeopardy.
Please change the headline from fall to seizure...
Having a seizure, or epilepsy, doesn't necessarily endanger his standing; depends on the cause of the seizure....a 5-10 foot fall, landing on the back of one's head, could be very dangerous, however.
I think it's a bit odd that they are saying both seizures were "ideopathic" - no known cause. I don't think most people have grand mal seizures for no reason.
While this most certainly isn’t funny, it nonetheless brings to mind an old joke. “Know how to make God laugh? Tell Him your plans...”
Prayers for the Chief Justice, his family, and the country.
Some good news from ABC:
“He was conscious and alert when they put him in the rescue (vehicle) and took him to Penobscot Bay Medical Center,” Polky said. A spokesman at the Rockport hospital did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press.
Just confirmed by Supreme Court spokesperson that he suffered a benign idiopathic seizure.
I know what you mean about FOX. It has become all tabloid, all the time.
When I want news, I watch (GASP!)CNN.
So much for patient confidentiality.
Mny famous and successful peole have had epilepsy:

Chief Justice Roberts reminds me of how much good President Bush has done. The President’s legacy will be fine appointments to the court such as the Chief Justice, along the important mission in Iraq for which the President is going to be remembered as a wise American leader.
Prayers up for Chief Justice John Roberts.
