That sounds even more dangerous than the direct route to FLA.

Taking the jobs that Mexicans don’t want or won’t do, no doubt.

The bigger question is why do so many people risk their lives tryng to leave Cuba and its wonderful health care system and other social services? Seems to me that the Cuban government ought to be trying keep illegal immigrants from getting into the country and taking advantage of all the free health benefits and other services, rather than keeping its citizens from leaving.

Well, at least they are in perfect helath since Cuba has free health care.

BTW, half asleep this AM, I overheard a CBS late night news piece on US students graduating from Cuban Medical school after a benevolent Fidel gave them scholarships.

A paraphrased capsule of one "graduate's" interview: "We slept in Army barracks and had only cold showers, but beginning with the first day of school, we were the ones who interacted daily with patients unlike the US medical schools where you go to class for years before doing that."

Here in Texas, not only will the government welcome these illegals, we'll give them in-state tuition and financial aid! On August 9, 2005, WLF filed a formal complaint with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) against Texas, charging that Texas is violating the civil rights of U.S. citizens who live outside the State. WLF charged that Texas is violating federal law by offering in-state college tuition rates to illegal aliens who live in Texas, while denying those same rates to nonresident U.S. citizens. WLF called on DHS to bring appropriate enforcement action against Texas, including ordering Texas to refund excessive tuition charges. ... In 2001, Texas adopted a law that allows illegal aliens to attend public universities at in-state rates but has refused to extend that same opportunity to U.S. citizens living outside Texas.
