More Miserable Failure in Iraq
Blogs for Bush ^ | July 28, 2007 | Mark Noonan

Geesh, how much worse does it have to get before they finally admit they've got it wrong?

Insurgent attacks in Iraq’s Ninewah province have dropped significantly, and if the trend continues, fewer U.S. troops will be needed in the region, an Army commander in the area said Friday.

A sign of the improved security situation in the province is the fact that the province - which includes Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city - will transfer to Iraqi provincial control sometime next month, said Army Col. Stephen Twitty, commander of the 1st Cavalry Division’s 4th Brigade, during a briefing with Pentagon reporters via telephone.

The Ninewah provincial government has made great strides and can stand on its own with minimal help, Twitty said. “We have a very mature provincial government here,” he said.

The Coalition provincial reconstruction team in Mosul and the brigade staff will continue to coach and mentor the provincial government. “In nine months I have seen this government mature, so they will be able to operate pretty much independently and run the provincial government pretty much independently,” Twitty said.

On the security side, the two Iraqi divisions in the province are already under the command of Iraqi Ground Forces Command.

Will someone please tell Reid and Pelosi to stop stubbornly staying their course on Iraq? I know, we all hoped that the troops would fail and that there would be a nifty American surrender to help Democratic political prospects next year, but its time to admit that there was some poor planning on the part of the Democrats and it is clear they didn't take into consideration the desire American troops have to win at all costs. What we need to find out now is just how Democratic intelligence failed so badly.

“Democratic intelligence” — isn’t that an oxymoron?

LOL! Kaslin, thanks for posting this. I love the mildly sardonic tone of the way it’s written. Bravo to Mark Noonan. Of course, the mainstream media will not tell the truth about Iraq under any circumstances.

Needs to be repeated.

"More Miserable Failure in Iraq"

Interesting statement.

Perhaps it would be wise for conservatives to turn this thing around on the Democrats and "demand" that they admit that they are failing miserably in their mission to demand and construct "failure" over there.

You're quite welcome.

Of course, the mainstream media will not tell the truth about Iraq under any circumstances.

It would hurt them if they would report the truth

To: Kaslin; All

Found this nifty site the other day. Check out this map of Iraq and see for yourself how this “war” is concentrated pretty much in Baghdad...and that’s about it! :)

There are SIX MILLION people in Baghdad! 40 attacks a day on average, and very few 100% successful...though the MSM reports each attack as a “failure” for the USA. *Rolleyes* Out of SIX MILLION PEOPLE! Aarrgghhh! America loses about 140 people PER DAY in traffic accidents alone!

Perspective, People! Perspective. :) The liberal ‘nattering neighbobs of negativity’ really DO want us to lose this one.

Yeah’ they want us to lose the war, because they want us to make the same mistake they made during Vietnam. the troops didn’t lose the war, the politicians did

You are absolutely correct. I joined the Army in 1977, soon after Vietnam ended. I’ve served with PLENTY of Vietnam Vets (who stayed in the military because they either liked The Life or they were determined to get something out of it for their many sacrifices there and at home again) so I’ve gotten an earful over the years and they all agree with you, too.

And that’s all I have to say about that. :)
