I’m probably a little older than some of the students that go through your campus (I’m 26), but if any of my contemporaries get any sort of political power while at the same time maintaining the kook mindset they still have...

...well, I don’t know what the solution to this would be, with the exception of leaving the country and starting over again somewhere tropical?

Many people like the candy thrown out by this monster behind the mask: guilt-free cohabitation, do what you will with your body on any level, fill your mind with trash from TV. Nihilism: Nothing means anything. In their perceived freedom these body-pierced, dyed-hair youngsters slip into enslavement to their own lusts, making a self-fulfilled prophecy in this life of the nihilism instilled by the two generations before.

The Bible stands alone as the one absolute and unchanging constant: the North Star in this sea of oblivion. His people ultimately find it and right their skiffs to heavenly shorts. Others never do, and drown crashing among the reefs.

As this pertains to America, founded in a seedbed of theological and moral richness, the question remains how long she will continue to live in the drought, and what God's people, unapologetically so, will do to save her. Ultimately, that too is in His hands, as while we must fight the battle He must give the victory.

"Progress."

Do you see an America defined by those deplorable values dominating in the same manner as the America defined by Washington, Jefferson, Madisom, et al? And what exactly is the prescription for combating it?

There is a silver lining: Those having such values are unlikely to procreate large families with their life-in "partner." They'd rather have pleasure and "stuff." They don't want to contribute to pollution, to global warming, to a decline the salmon population... By contradistinction, those with traditional American (and - dare I say it? - Judeo-Christian) values will and are having more children, with many (not all) raising them in strict but loving homes. The strength of the upbringing is often enough that of the college-bound ones they will return to their roots later in life.

BTW most in these large families, enough of whom I know to have a somewhat representative sample, do not go off to four-year college. The boys often become farmers, mechanics, and other tradesmen and thereby most of them maintain the original values of their parents unmolested by indoctrination from academia.

The girls become moms - feminstists near and far HATE this, but it takes moms to raise children, pregnancy and all.

Perchance this offers at least a little hope.

“You lose one election and people are going into hysterics. A year ago people were saying are the democrats dead. Now it has flipped more then Hilary on Iraq.”

We need to be in hysterics. Right now we are getting creamed in polls and party affiliation(Presidential race excepted). If you listen to people they are angry (at us). there is no good reason for us to be in these straights. Our leadership shows no imagination or creativity they have no program or aggressive policy domestically. They are in capable of dealing with structural problems (MSM). They are not out using the bully pulpit. they are just a but of losers.

As it stands now unless we get off our backs the Dem’s will have a bigger majority and if they take the White House will take down talk radio probably use anti trust laws against Rupert Murdoch put 4 new lib Justices on the SCOUS (taking away any chance of us getting a majority if we are lucky to win in 4 years). They will bring in 60,000,000 illegals. They will make us a minority for years. All because Republican’s have grown complacent institutionalized, corrupt, lazy and stupid. We are simply not crafting a message that appeals to the majority of the country. the atmoshere on this board can only be described as complete unreality.

"The challenge is to process this information into a simplified form such that the average mind can digest it..."

Now that's a good point, Lex. You appear to be a Promethean, obviously both intelligent and wise.

There are many who post here on Free Republic who are highly intellegent and highly articulate. I don't know to what extent, but comments posted here reach the outside world and have some effect. I'm sure that Freepers themselves have a far more powerful impact on the world, merely by living in it, than any measure might show.

I'm sure you'll agree that to be intelligent is fortunate; to be intelligent enough to become wise is to be blessed. Wisdom, I think, radiates throughout the world, like light, and makes it better.

Good comeback, and living in a proudly pro-homo, pro-choice state, I fully appreciate your meaning. What gives some satisfaction is, on Jan. 22, to print a full-color 8x11 photograph of an aborted fetus and stick it on the back of my car. No caption is necessary; no one can argue with a simple photo. One woman in a SUV passed me, looked over, and just threw up her hands in exapseration.

I have said it here many times before, that the RINOcrat party is a self-inflicted wound. They shot themselves in the foot, then were so stupid they did not seek medical attention. Thusly, the wound has become infected, built up to gangrene and soon will rot off the foot, leg, and finally, body of the RINOcrat party. They are simply liberals now as the Marxist’s party of abortion loving homo’s are. We are slowly being out numbered as millions of illegals vote and are not suppose to vote. Thus, we lose anyway. America will soon be a third world nation, over run with socialism, homosexuals, muzzie murderers, Marxist’s and frenchmen. America was founded, will no longer exist. There are far fewer Conservatives and we are being out numbered more and more every day. People need to take the rose colored glasses off. When something is free, the hands will come out and get it. That is how the Marxist’s want to do things. Stupid Americans vote with their own pocket book in mind first and too hell with the Republic as a whole.

Yep. Read the rest of what I said, and you'll infer that I, like you in MA, live in hostile enemy territory, a Christian in Athens as it were.

If you, like me, feel strongly about the capital execution of (est.) 46 million babies, most by anesthetized dismemberment - do something about it, if you aren't already! Show a picture on your car on Jan 22.

The rating for Congress are low but that is because the Dem’s are angry with them for not pulling out of the Iraq action.

If that was true, then people like Tammy Duckworth and Ned Lamont would have won their elections, Joe Lieberman would have lost, Nancy Pelosi wouldn't have had to bribe members of her own party to vote her way on her Iraq vote, Cindy Sheehan would be a star in the Democrat party, and President Bush's approval ratings would be less than that of Congress.

Those elections may of turned out the way they did but there was a lot of other close ones that went the wrong way. The GOP acted like it was in to long and lost it’s bearings and the war was also highly unpopular. I think this board is simply not facing reality and it is going to bite them big time.

I remember the 60's and 70's, the massive marches on college campuses, the riots in the streets, cities burning..., over the Vietnam War. George McGovern tried to tap into that anger and ran for president on an anti-war platform in 1972. Given all that, one would have thought he'd win in a landslide. Reality: he lost every state but one.

In spite of the war's unpopularity, there just isn't the anger there used to be, other than from the far left. What few anti-war protests we're seeing are, by historic standards, rather pathetic.

Dims may be trying to cultivate that anger. But IMHO, if they push it too far, they'll end up in the same place that McGovern did. And considering their presidential candidate field is kissing up to the loons at Kos, that's exactly where they're going.

yes, but McGovern never lead in the polls. The Dem’s are leading except for Rudy. McGovern was way out even by the standards of todays Dem’s. We are also living in a different society then in ‘72 one that is very close and with the war it will favor the Dem’s unless we really get our act together. Don’t forget in ‘72 Vermont was Republican and so was Washington, Oregon, New Jersey, Iowa, Wisconsin, California,Delaware etc. Also Suburbs were very Republican and Most blacks did not vote. The Latino population was a lot smaller than now. The times they are a changing. we need to change with them. The message is not working very well. Also the Dem's have 100 million dollars more than we have already.

We have lost one election after losing a long series in a row. The problems revolve not just around the message, but the ability to govern to meet the principles in the message, and the ability to communicate the message. We have drastically lost the later two...and the GOP in Washington abandoned the principles by undisciplined spending.

The GOP will win if they return to the core principles of smaller government, fiscal conservatism, and strong defense. A good candidate and well run campaign will change things drastically. I doubt the voting electorate changed that much from 2004 to 2006. The things that changed were in the party and the White House...lack of conservatism and inability to communicate.

” The problems revolve not just around the message, but the ability to govern to meet the principles in the message”

Very true. We simply are not practicing what we are preaching. It gets hard to promote fiscal conservatism when you are building bridges to nowhere. I notice you are not mentioning the religious angle. It is important to keep those votes in line. But, right now the populace does not want to hear that. I'm afraid most people are not social conservatives like they were twenty years ago. The reason is we have defined the message as on religious right terms. Most people (myself included) do not respond to that. But, if a social conservative is for law and order, anti illegals, anti-affirmative action, anti-political correction anti media elites I think most people are social conservatives. That message needs to change and broaden.

But on the other hand I am afraid things are changing in ‘72 ‘84 and ‘88 left Presidential candidates were destroyed but in ‘04 one of them came 140,000 votes more in Ohio from winning.

I think we are going to have to deal with some issues like the cost of health care and such too. We get bogged down in being against socialized medicine and feel that is the only alternative to doing nothing (to easy for the current crowd), and that is a huge mistake. There are alternatives to the current mess that are not socialism and are frankly in line with conservative thought or at least not grossly against the same. There is no reason why we should not be activee in that way.

We need to show more creativity and thought. The people running our show in Washington do not seem to have it. They just concentrate on winning the next election. We need to have people who have a more long term view of things. The Dem’s see talk radio as a threat. so now they are trying to destroy it with the fairness doctrine. We have had control of the FCC for 28 of the past 40 years but have not done anything to take down the networks. The media is now in a change of flux and huge media companies are changing hands every week. Our people need to be going to tour money bags and getting them to create some more Rupert Murdoch’ of course that is not happening. What the hell is wrong with these people?

Good points. One problem is that our culture, media, and educational system corrupts kids. Most teens and young adults think they’re being rebellious and independent by being “liberal”, but they think this because they’ve been brainwashed by the very establishment they think they’re rebelling against.
