Protester removed from Fred Thompson event
CNN Political Ticker ^ | 07/25/07 | Steve Brusk

Posted on 07/25/2007 1:34:43 PM PDT by Jokelahoma

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.

Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.

The woman questioned Thompson as he talked to reporters. She asked him why he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and noted that the organization supported the North American Union with Canada and Mexico.

Note this is an excerpt.

Do you think the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has America's best interest in mind?

Since the CFR is a very diverse think-tank with members from across the political, philosophical, and economic spectrum, I doubt that it has a common goal vis a vis "America's best interest". I would say that many of its members have America's best interest in mind while others are much less concerned with America's best interest.

Were you interested in his answer enough to listen to it.

"She asked a question and interjected a secondary question in the middle of it. He answered the first question (the part about being a member of CFR) and dismissed the secondary question. CFR is a think-tank much like AEI and several others. It has no regulatory power and and "plans" it has for NAU or anything else are of no more or less importance than the plans or proposals of any other think-tank."

VRW, I hear you and follow your reasoning but I'd prefer to hear it from Fred. FR is a premiere conservative site. Time for spinning is over, I want to hear it fron Fred. I don't want to hear, "what he meant was", or "what he was trying to say was". Let the man stand on his on two feet and present his positions to the electorate. This election is too important for the cheerleaders to decide.

Because RP is a nutter.

Oh. Well, that explains everything! Thank you so much for your incisive analysis.

“Was that the response, or was there more?”

I posted his response to the question about the NAU in my post #68.

He laughed and said “I didn’t know they were up to that”.

” My first thought was that it was a Hunter supporter, myself.”

Hunter’s a good man, but not all of his FR-counterparts are on his wavelength. I suppose you can say that about any group, though.

I for one usually think it’s connected to some form of overt leftism or wacky tin-foil antics. Apparently that’s the case, with this 9/11 conspironut. Most even-minded folks reserve themselves among public events, and use meaningful avenues.

In reference to the question about the NAU, as I stated in my post #68, Fred laughed and said, “I didn’t know they were up to that”.

Like I said...
you all attack the motives of anyone who asks questions.

I would hope you would all want to know his positions.

Please direct us all to an official site where we can see his entire voting record and all his positions of concern to Americans.

Oh, and I think your friend can count the kool-aid drinking, nutjob, Romneybot, prolife extremist, and dragqueen comments for himself.

As for the Romney supporters, you’ll have to ask them.

You stated some of it's members are less concerned with Americas best interest.

Is this an American organization? If so, why would members of an American organization not have America's best interest in mind?

Fair enough. I heard it from Fred and relayed it to you. If you watch the video you can hear it from Fred too. I'm sure that as time goes on you'll hear more from him, and when he decides it is time to formally declare his candidacy, you'll hear even more. He's talking and answering lots of questions already, even if he's waiting until later to answer certain questions (like "when are you going to officially join the race?").

She's not a Hunter supporter, though. Her Truther website clearly shows Paul tendencies.

Under ordinary circumstances I'd write her off as a lone nut. Every candidate has supporters who are lunatics, even Fred (whom I'm now leaning toward, obviously). But Paul, through comments and debate performances, has shown himself to be in congress with these folks (pun mostly intended). I leaned towards her being a Paul supporter based on her actions and the topic alone. The freakazoid website simply confirmed it.

I am sure it’s not his fault. His aides haven’t told him yet. The old one just kept getting his message all wrong and haven’t the new ones been busy bringing us things like, well, Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

The CFR itself has no “positions.”

It’s like Hardball. The guests obviously do not agree. Same idea with the CFR.

The CFR (which is a pointless debate society; I know, I was in it, asked to be a vice-chair of an energy-related task force) appoints committees (”Independent Task Forces”), generally of three chief people, who are wholly independent. They generate a paper or proposal.

Then other members debate the value of the same, oftentimes generating articles critcal of the committee report.

Sometimes a committee’s idea is good, sometimes it is bovine excrement.

But the membership comes from ALL OVER the polictical spectrum, left, right, sane, insane.

The entire thing is seriously misunderstood.

Here is an explaination of the Task Forces (that generate the reports, some good, some B.S.), note “wholly independent.”:

http://www.cfr.org/about/task_forces.html

Here is a particularly foul report from one of those task forces, often cited as the evil of CFR:

http://www.cfr.org/publication/8102/building_a_north_american_community.html?breadcrumb=%2Fpublication%2Fby_type%2Ftask_force_report

Here are responsive articles stating that the previous task force report is B.S. (from Tom Tancredo):

http://www.cfr.org/publication/11141/tancredo.html?breadcrumb=%2Fissue%2Fpublication_list%3Fid%3D27%26page%3D3

and this:

http://www.cfr.org/publication/8814/immigration_benefits_and_terrorism.html?breadcrumb=%2Fissue%2Fpublication_list%3Fid%3D27%26page%3D4

Here is an example of the back-and-forth generated (again, bit like Hardball, but polite):

I still don’t understand why removing some nut case from a Fred Thompson event is CNN News while removing large numbers from a Clintoon rally is not.

Most protesters are there because they represent noisy groups who’s numbers are so small that they would not otherwise be heard. They are only heard when they act in ways that support the MSM template. Example, “The Ditch Witch”.

Hmmm.

So the CFR has no position in regards to America's best interest?

No? Nor the CFR.

CFR is a polite, over-thought, Hardball.
