Exactly my thoughts on this...

From the article, "[Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski stated] Or is it [the threats from Russia] something serious that we need to take into consideration -- do we have to take care and be afraid? So far it's too early to answer this."

Forgive me as I'm not in the military or diplomatic relations, but I believe it is not too early to take threats from a man like Putin seriously. Should we let it deter us? No, definitely not. However, I hope this is rhetoric as well and that behind closed doors our military and their advisors are taking it seriously. [I would also seriously hope that despite his "friendship" with Putin -- you know, the whole "I've looked into his eyes" stuff -- that Bush is at the very least extremely cautious about trusting him...]

With Putin making alliances with Syria, Iran, Venezuela, China, etc.. etc... I seriously see a pattern developing in these actions and it's not good, IMHO. Call me paranoid -- as I'm sure some who show up on this thread will -- but I think it could spell a heap of trouble for the U.S. and other freedom-loving nations and peoples if we DON'T take this seriously.

[I personally would like at the very least to see a little more effort on reinforcing our infrastructure (manufacturing, and other necessities we currently are importing from China), as well as strengthening our own security here at home (increasing border patrols, building the security fence, or whatever it takes to assure we are not allowing foreign combatants onto our soil -- after all we are at war!). Even if I'm wrong, it wouldn't be a bad idea to at least try to ensure that we are capable of maintaining our strength should we find ourselves in a worse position than we are already.]
