SUNAPEE,NH (AP)-Democrat presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday that the United States cannot use it's military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep US forces there.

Imagine if during WWII a Democrat spoke these words?
GENOCIDE NOT GOOD ENOUGH REASON FOR 400,OOO AMERICANS TO DIE IN EUROPE
SLAVERY NOT GOOD ENOUGH REASON TO FIGHT CIVIL WAR
I can get bothered about this only to the extent that he is daring to say something that runs contrary to the the supposed inarguability of the humanitarian position supporting a continued US presence in Iraq. While I do not agree with him in his overall position on Iraq, I would give him good marks for his tendency to speak what is on his mind. There does not seem to be a lot of pander coming from Obama and were I a Democratic primary voter (which I am not), I would certainly at this point consider him much more preferable that Madame Clinton.
Well? He's right. Of course the same applies in Darfur which I don't think he would agree with.
I think B. Osama is one step closer to his place in “Remember 2007”.
Unless the Beast let’s him on the ticket.
I know a lot of rocks smarter than this prez-wannabe, hussein obama! Unbelievable!
We supposedly went to Iraq to stop Sadaam from owning/using WMD. That’s fine by me. Nor should we want Al-Quida using Iraq as a terror base. But I don’t loose any sleep over muslim rabid dogs wiping out other muslim rabid dogs — the fewer the better.
It partly depends on the culture you’re dealing with, or which side you would be on.
Now, libs are CURRENTLY telling us to worry about DARFUR.
(Out of the other side of their mouths, they say we “HAVE NO INTEREST” in Iraq; hence, shouldn’t be there.)
When Klintoon invaded Yugo, FOR Moslems, it was GREAT! (Though we had absolutely no interest.) They were innocents being killed by evil Christians!
When Klintoon bombed Iraq, that was OK.
Just some of the many contradictions of liberals. What else do you expect?
Say no to war, unless a Democrat is president.
Ali Babah and The Forty Thieves have announced their endorsement of Barak Obama for President of the United States.
well, to be fair, he didn’t say what the headline says, and there isn’t a genocide in Iraq. Genocide is when someone tried to exterminate a whole group of people (group defined ethnically, I suppose).
It’s okay to dislike Obama, but don’t let headline writers tell you how to read.
This would be a genocide we helped create by destroying the existing government, allowing/encouraging foreign terrorists like Al Queda into Iraq, and then leaving without a transition to a government that stopped the genocide. If Obama can’t think through the difference between this and the Congo he’s a dangerous idiot, not a useful one.
It will be the rabid Muslim dogs wiping out the Iraqis who trusted us and cooperated with us. The victims will be Christians, Kurds and moderate Sunni and Shias who the Democrats want to abandon. Just as in Vietnam.
“Vietnam, Cambodia, Rwanda... Democrats just LOVE genocides.”
Genocide seems to be the chief aim of socialist regimes everywhere.
Indeed, there is little to separate the ideology and praxis of the typical socialist state and Jim Jones’ little satrapy in Guyana.
See tagline.
deja vu April 29,1975....date has changed but not the democrats..
Actually, from the very start the reasons for going into Iraq included liberation and giving them a shot at democracy. (See my profile.)
Stepping aside to allow mass slaughter of innocents is contrary to one of the original intents. And for Obama Hussein: Who is the monster here, Obama, YOU or President Bush? @sshole.
And I’m sorry, I forgot Somalia.
I know what you are saying in the “isolationist left” is a good thing . . . but its bogus . . . same as the fiscally responsible left is also bogus. The left opposes only military action in our interests. They continue to want to globalize, give up sovereignty, fund more international aid, sign Kyoto and the law of the sea treaties, etc.
Basically what Bill Clinton said too
