So now it's all her editors' fault - and she finds yet another phony "Terry Duffy" to proclaim himself as a "registered Republican" for Hitlery.

Staunch seems to be the inoperative adjective. Perhaps reporters/journalists/columnists/partisans should just step away from the use of adjectives. They are nothing but a continued source of bias on display.

In Philadelphia, the word a few years ago was for Democrats to register Republican in order to mess up the Republican primaries. The few dyed in the wool Democrats I know well here are still registered Republicans. They are always accusing Republicans of shady tactics, but turn a blind eye to the ethics of their own actions. When it pleases them, they claim to be registered Republicans.

This business of “Republicans for ( you fill in the rat candidate) is an example of the democrat simpleton ratmedia learning a lesson from Florida 2000. Remember how the rat was so sure he had been “cheated” in the Florida, especially in the panhandle? They lost there maybe 80/20 in spite of the fact that the registration numbers were about 90/10 in the rat’s favor. The rat and his boot lickers in the ratmedia could not understand how ANYONE could be a registered rat and vote GOP! Heaven forbid! Being a linear instead of a dynamic thinker the rat’s brain can not process this information. He can not understand that people register in a party for different reasons. He can not understand that registering rat does not mean always and forever voting rat. Finding registered rats that vote GOP is just as easy as finding registered GOPers who vote rat. Its a function of the Bell Curve, but flat line thinkers like the rat don’t understand that.

You’ve got to at least credit Jennifer with printing a retraction of her first story. It’s a long winded and sneering self serving clarification without any apology, but at least it’s a retraction.
In future stories, Jennifer must learn to use the many search engines readily available on the internet to check the “facts” she’s gathered before passing on a story containing such easily verifiable lies. It would only take her a few minutes and it’s the least one should expect from someone claiming to be a professional journalist.

Maybe she should have done some checking on the “staunch Republican” before she ran her story.
I don’t consider myself “staunch” but I don’t give a dime to Democrats either.

glad she’s so thin-skinned. The article you posted the other day glossing over Democrat scandals, and extolling Obama’s coming regime of moral purity as follow up to this “staunch Republican” tripe shows she’s an enterprising Democrat operative who was swinging into high gear. Since we know she’s checking this site now, lay it on heavy, maybe this can be another day when she goes home with a really bad headache.

Hahahahahaha. I thought a bit of cynical detachment would be a “reporter’s” most important atribute. That means asking everyone questions. You know, “what do you mean by staunch, how long have you been a Republican, have you ever supported a democrat?”, or at least use the all purpose handy dandy, “” around anything not fact checked.
That should do it. Its hard being a reporter. Waaaaaa. As for the letter writers, well they’re just doing the job your Professors didn’t do in J school.

Jennifer, you're old enough to enjoy being considered a girl, that means you've been around the block a few times and you ought to know better. Fake Republicans claiming to be disgruntled and now supporting Democrats is such a common thing in the media that Rush has a name for it: Seminar Callers. The Dem's had seminars on how to call talk radio and get on the air. One item was to say 'I'm a Republican, I voted for Bush, I agree with you, EXCEPT on (fill in the blank).'
So, Jennifer, Republicans are sensitized to the Fake Republican Scam put out by you Girl Reporters in the MSM. And you know what Jennifer, we sensitized Republicans were correct. Jim Ronca misrepresented himself and YOU went along with the scam, without checking it out. What's the likelihood of a Republican Trial Lawyer, one of the major Dhimmicrat interest groups?
Jennifer, you also wrote: "(those two words "trial lawyers" also make Republicans crazy)". I guess those two words "trial lawyers" drove the trial lawyers crazy too. They changed the name of their organization.
Jennifer, I'll give you another tip, Republicans are sick to death of the lying, lazy, biased, agenda-driven Mainstream Media. So, when you put out unchecked crap slamming Republicans, you're wacking a Hornet's nest with a stick, as you found out. I'm old enough to remember, when reporters bragged about getting a story from their own grandmother and were skeptical enough to demand a second source. You, Girl Reporter, just take obvious Defeatocrat propaganda and run with it. Your Editor liked the anti-GOP propaganda so much, he made that the lead to get people to read the darned story. Okay, we read the story and we're responding. You ought to be happy.

Well, the label "Republican" doesn't mean all that much any more - it's certainly not a synonym for "conservative". She isn't necessarily lying, there are probably all sorts of "registered Republicans" who somehow manage to admire Ronald Reagan but are so disgusted with Bush's policies on fill in the liberal cause du jour that they are voting for Hillary. Just watch, they will spring up everywhere next year.

“Terry Duffy” is a real person, a Chicago-area businessman whom I’ve already exposed on the Trib’s “Swamp” website as a person who’s contributed to a lot of Democrats (including Harold Ford and Dick Durbin) and who is so not “key” that the Trib itself has never mentioned him as a republican.
More lies from Ms. Hunter.

In Illinois you don’t register by party. You can’t, by law. so when Ms. Hunter says Duffy intends to remain a “registered Republican”, she’s either lying, or betraying her ignorance of IL election law (she’s Canadian, I believe).
