Sex Ed for Kindergarteners 'Right Thing to Do,' Says Obama
ABC News ^ | July 18, 2007 1:13 PM | Teddy Davis and Lindsey Ellerson

Posted on 07/18/2007 3:30:56 PM PDT by Vision

ABC News' Teddy Davis and Lindsey Ellerson Report: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told Planned Parenthood Tuesday that sex education for kindergarteners, as long as it is "age-appropriate," is "the right thing to do."

"I remember Alan Keyes . . . I remember him using this in his campaign against me," Obama said in reference to the conservative firebrand who ran against him for the U.S. Senate in 2004. Sex education for kindergarteners had become an issue in his race against Keyes because of Obama’s work on the issue as chairman of the health committee in the Illinois state Senate.

"'Barack Obama supports teaching sex education to kindergarteners,'" said Obama mimicking Keyes' distinctive style of speech. "Which -- I didn’t know what to tell him (laughter)."

"But it’s the right thing to do," Obama continued, "to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools."

Speaking to a young woman who asked a question about sex education, Obama said, "You, as a peer, can have enormous power over your age cohort but you’ve got to have some support from the schools. You certainly should not have to be fighting each and every instance by providing accurate information outside of the classroom because inside the classroom the only thing that can be talked about is abstinence."

"Keep in mind: I honor and respect young people who choose to delay sexual activity," Obama continued. "I’ve got two daughters, and I want them to understand that sex is not something casual. That's something that we definitely want to communicate and should be part of any curriculum. But we also know that when the statistics tell us that nearly half of 15 to 19 year olds are engaging in sexual activity, that for us to leave them in ignorance is potentially consigning them to illness, pregnancy, poverty, and in some cases, death."

When Obama's campaign was asked by ABC News to explain what kind of sex education Obama considers "age appropriate" for kindergarteners, the Obama campaign pointed to an Oct. 6, 2004 story from the Daily Herald in which Obama had "moved to clarify" in his Senate campaign that he "does not support teaching explicit sex education to children in kindergarten. . . The legislation in question was a state Senate measure last year that aimed to update Illinois' sex education standards with 'medically accurate' information . . . 'Nobody's suggesting that kindergartners are going to be getting information about sex in the way that we think about it,' Obama said. 'If they ask a teacher 'where do babies come from,' that providing information that the fact is that it's not a stork is probably not an unhealthy thing. Although again, that's going to be determined on a case by case basis by local communities and local school boards.'"

In addition to local schools informing kindergarteners that babies do not come from the stork, the state legislation Obama supported in Illinois, which contained an "opt out" provision for parents, also envisioned teaching kindergarteners about "inappropriate touching," according to Obama's presidential campaign. Despite Obama's support, the legislation was not enacted.

And what is ‘age-appropriate’ sex education for kindergarteners?

“How did our parents and grandparents and previous generations figure it all out without sex education in school when they were young? Since we’re all here our parents had to have figured things out somewhere along the way.”

“Previous generations” figured out most everything for themselves without the government. Schools and teachers were controlled by the parents themselves in those “previous generations.” Go back far enough, and the parents themselves got together and looked for teachers for their own children.

We are in the Clinton/Obama/Reid/Schumer generation now. Face it. The entire country (including the professing conservative sector) is just going along with it ultimately, because this generation hasn’t the courage to stand up and lock their doors against government intrusion.

While conservatives are busy making their wealth and sending their children off to be educated by the socialists and the debauched, their children are being trained to militate against the standards of their own parents.

We have passed out of having Constitutional government. We have passed out of having control of our own incomes, families, neighborhoods and national borders. We are headed very soon for abject slavery to a severe socialist form, or we are headed for civil war or revolution.

Please do not believe that the system inteneds to leave children alone in this area. It doesn’t even matter how we vote. This is coming, no matter who gets in to office, if it is not already being practiced (in many school districts).

Parents who really intend to leave their children in the public school system must storm the school board meetings. They must not wait until the officials put these things on the agenda. At the very first whisper of these things (it is beyond whispers NOW) parents need to be storming the school boards and telling them not even to consider such instruction.

While they are at it, parents need to storm the school boards and insist that sex ed be removed from ALL grade levels.

I am speaking to parents who can’t see anything beyond putting their kids on the big yellow public school buses. We have home schooled since 1982 and we would not go the government school route ourselves.

What business is it of ours, then? The government educated kids paly on OUR streets and they potentially affect the safety of OUR children. If YOUR kids are left in government kindergartens, and you let them walk our streets when they are 13 and 14, we will watch your children like hawks! We won’t want them near our kids. These are not meant to be personal remarks toward you, Originalbuckeye - - these are words that express the dangers ahead for our children who are educated to be moral Christian citizens.

He’s a vile man. He is deceitful and does not say that this is sex positive teaching based on the “science” of Reich and Kinsey that seeks to see everyone sexually active at every age, no oral judgments over sexual pairings or any type...

http://www.positive.org

We have a quick and easy online tour through the most important topics for teens who are sexually active now or just thinking about having sex. It's called "Just Say Yes" (en español: "¡Di Que Sí!") because we're tired of people telling us what we can and can't do. There's no preaching. No moralizing. Just the facts.

"us". Ha. It isn't teens running the site.

"facts". Ha. Propaganda.

And on Amazon.com...

This is the mindset of the Sex Positive Agenda.

Playbook for Kids About Sex (Paperback)
by Joani Blank, Marcia Quackenbush (Illustrator)

Customer review:

Children's sexuality is a part of the human experience which in today's world we mostly encounter in negative, semi-paranoid terms. This book, a veritable Playbook in all true senses of the word, is an agent of consciousness, helping to usher in the coming age of a sensuous tenderness, of an understanding of sexual pleasure without guilt, of a joyous sharing of delight without cruelty, bigotry, exploitation, discrimination; it's a "hands-on!" guide to exploration and a companion to pleasure, Humanity's birthright.
The children of the world are the ones who will actualize this birthright to a Natural sensuality in their own lives, within their own experiences as children now, and as adults in the near future. The Playbook is an aid, a guide, a friend who will help bring about a world in which it will be unknown, weird - pathological! - to deprive any person of their enjoynment of sexual pleasure, or to exploit another's needs and desires, or worse, to sexually impose one's self on another being.

Without mentioning any theory, the Playbook draws on the brilliant and insightful work of Dr. Wilhelm Reich, ("Children of the Future"; "The Sexual Revolution"). Without going into political sloganeering, the Playbook is an embodiment of straightforward Feminist perceptions of power, gender, race and sexuality. Without getting legalistic, or falling into any clinical, pseudo-scientific argumentations, the Playbook takes the victories of the Gay Rights Movement into a whole new sphere: it helps the future adult's sense of reality be formed by assuming right from the start that it's Natural to have a freedom of choice in sexual identity.

We wouldn’t want any government school teacher teaching your 1/2 credit’s worth. And your curriculum is merely biological. It teaches nothing about morality, propriety, or respect for anybody. If morality and propriety that are not the job of the schools, then neither should the biological function or process be the job of the schools.

Clearly it is politically incorrect to tell your children that premarital sex is wrong, than homosexuality is wrong, that adultery is wrong, that bestiality is wrong, that incest is wrong, that statutory rape is wrong, that serial rape is wrong, that public sex in bathrooms is wrong...

So the Left has to get ahold of your young brains-full-of-mush before conservative parents can drive the point home.

The schools have pass and fail grades on this. And the “establishment” whispers in your child’s ears, “your parents aren’t ALWAYS right...”

I think its instructive that he allowed himself to spill his guts on the subject. Insufficient discipline. This is certainly not a hot button issue even for liberals.

No. Obama felt pulled into this one and seemed to enjoy defending this craziness. This is a good sign. His chain can be pulled to advantage. Now we need some chain-pulling for ol Hillary.

“This guy is a loon. He hasn’t a chance to win.”

Our communist governor and Hillary accolade, Jennifer Granholm, sported a 59% disapproval rating and won re-election with 57% of the vote in 2006.

She engineered the highest unemployment rate in country, established a recession with negative growth for eight quarters in a row and drove 200,000 productive citiozns out of the state of Michigan.

He hasn’t a “chance to win?’ In Michigan Obama is most likely a favorite.

I recall that Ronald Reagan once said something like,

“Our children have the right to a childhood of innocence.”

No doubt he was referring to something similar to this current abomination.

Why do you send your child to spend hours every day in a place where they teach him “a bunch of crap”? When he is 18, and his head is stuffed with “crap,” are you going to blame yourself, or someone else?

Because I was stupid and married their Mother who was just using me to get herself out of debt and couldn't afford anything better.
This changes now that she's out of the picture. Daddy's taking over.
