Hummer Owner Gets Angry Message

Vandals Batter D.C. Man's SUV, Slash Its Tires and Scratch In an Eco Note

On a narrow, leafy street in Northwest Washington, where Prius hybrid cars and Volvos are the norm, one man bought a flashy gray Hummer that was too massive to fit in his garage. So he parked the seven-foot-tall behemoth on the street in front of his house and smiled politely when his eco-friendly neighbors looked on in disapproval at his "dream car."

It lasted five days on the street before two masked men took a bat to every window, a knife to each 38-inch tire and scratched into the body: "FOR THE ENVIRON."

"The thought of somebody vandalizing it never crossed my mind," said Gareth Groves...

Now, as Groves ponders what to do with the remains of his $38,000 SUV, he has been the target of a number of people who have driven by the crime scene in his upscale neighborhood and glared at him in smug satisfaction...

Neighbor Lucille Liem, 37, who owns a Prius hybrid, said that a common sentiment in the neighborhood is that large vehicles are impractical and a strain on the Earth -- and Hummers in particular are a symbol of consumer excess... Liem added quickly that she does not condone violence...

Investigators said they are searching for the vandals but don't have many leads. Witnesses saw two men about six feet tall with bandanas or masks over their faces smash up the car about 3:30 a.m. Monday and then run off...

He bought the used 2005 vehicle a month ago from a dentist in Fairfax County..."I'm worried about what I do now," he said. "If I get it fixed, do I put it back in the same spot three weeks from now?"

(I’ve also been known to cast aspersions on the manhood of middle-aged guys who drive Corvettes.)

Cars for men who need male enhancement.

I like you, and I know you’re not a poser - no one with your fashion sense could be - so I will not laugh at you.

Just be sure your pants are the right size, such that your entire family cannot fit inside them with you. ;)

I try to keep my Tahoe out of the mud as well.

I had a guy moaning about the constant rain we have had this summer in Houston and blaming it on globull warming. I asked him if he could figure out why I drove a Tahoe and before that Suburbans. He said to transport my big family? I said NO, it’s because the streets in Houston flood after heavy rains and I want to get through without flooding out.

I plan on buying one next spring. It is my dream vehicle. Mine will be safer in the great red state of Tennessee than in the state of Washington. That is what is so great about America,a person has the freedom to purchase any car they like!

Oh, and my SUV's 4WD - which station wagons did not have - is excellent for the frequent NJ combination of heavy snowfall and lax municipal plowing.

I don't like having to put my car in neutral and push when my toddlers are inside.

Absolutely!

I have no problem with anyone driving any vehicle.

(Okay, except for grannies driving Town Cars the steering wheels of which they cannot see over. I do have a problem with them.)

I just feel a desire to comment on poserdom on occasion.

Mr. ditter and I got stuck in the pasture recently and I thought the tractor wasn’t even going to be able to get us out.

Now, that is cool!
I bet you get lots of jealous glances when you drive that tractor to the supermarket.

Yet I see you have no problem with middle aged men prancing around in medieval garb pretending to be Knights.

Live and let live sista.................

These punks are the very reason I want to own a Corvette or a Trans Am. Because they think they're badasses riding around in 4 cylinder economy cars with fart cannons and a three foot tall rear wing on a front wheel drive car.

A former intern had a car like that, and though he was all badass. I raced him in my Crown Vic that had a LOT of miles on it, and handily beat him into shutting up. I loved making fun of his car.

I would love to have a car that shows the CRX drivers something real.

You don't need a Vette or a Mustang for that. Hell, a Pontiac Grand Prix GT could handle that.

If he just had the decency to put an old Kerry or new Hillary or Obama bumpersticker on the back all this trouble could have been avoided.

Of course I have no problem with them. Those guys are paying patrons, and their entrance fee pays my performer salary.

But feel free to cast aspersions, since that’s what I do, and I am perfectly capable of taking what I dish out.

Interesting that 99% of the time when I see a Kerry/Edwards sticker (and yes, still a few Gore/Lieberman stickers), they are on some big SUV.

Just more hypocrisy from the left.
